One of the more surreal moments for me at Rails World was watching people quietly listening to
@mightymissoula while working on their laptops.
That’s always been part of what I’ve wanted this band to be. Instrumental music that can sit alongside whatever else you’re doing… writing, coding, thinking, driving.
During the pre-keynote livestream, I was asked whether we use AI when writing music. I said no because it's not really a part of my life that I'm trying to fast-track the creative writing process.
I enjoy the messy middle of writing songs with other humans. Half-formed ideas, wrong turns, someone hearing something you didn’t… eventually finding something none of you would have written alone.
… it's literally vibe-based.
So there was something fitting about putting the result on a physical record, setting it in the middle of a software conference, and watching people gather around it.
Thanks to the
#RailsWorld organizers for inviting us, and to everyone who gave our music a spin.
If you went home with a copy, share a photo when it finds its place in the wild. And keep in touch with
@mightymissoula… or give us a listen wherever you stream music.
