Company vs. Country
For the past 4,000+ years, which country you were from mattered a lot.
However, this is changing.
The benefits your country provides are all Physical. A country gives you roads, firefighters, police, and maybe some healthcare. But in return, it steals 20-55% of your hard-earned money. Also known as "taxes".
But these "physical benefits" your country offers are becoming less and less relevant in the current world. The world is becoming a lot more Digital.
And because of how fast AI is improving, the things that will be important in the future have changed.
What matters a lot more is how good your cybersecurity is, what AI models you have access to, how many tokens you can burn, whether you can access unrestricted AI models, how much inference hardware you have at your disposal, what internal software and infra you have access to, and whether you can remain on the cutting-edge of AI.
These things, a country will NEVER give you.
This is why "what company you work for" will matter 100x more than "what country you live in".
In other words, a Company is the new Country.
A great company will give you access to the latest AI models, self-hosted local models, great internal softwares, and maybe even unlimited tokens. If you work for a good company, they will help you with cybersecurity and invest in your education.
NO COUNTRY WILL DO THESE THINGS FOR YOU.
I realized this when I read a tweet about how OpenAI could easily hack most countries today. This is very true.
All it takes is to spin up 10,000 parallel agents running OpenAI's latest internal model, give them a clear /goal objective, and watch them totally ruin a country's infrastructure, electrical grid, and internet network.
OpenAI could very easily do this. OpenAI is a company. And it already is more powerful than 90% of countries in this world.
Sure, what country you live in is important, but what will matter FAR more in the coming years and decades is what company you work for.
