In my adult lifetime, Republicans have stood for rolling back the New Deal, Great Society, Roe, civil rights, progressive taxation, environmental protection & diplomacy. That’s been inspiration enough to vote against them in every election since 1982. #VoteBlueNoMatterWho

“The times we live in look like the 1930s…” which is why I’m going with the fascist.
“ The times we live in look like the 1930s. Our economy is weak. Our country is divided. Our leaders fail to adequately stand up for our allies, even as our enemies target them and set their sights on us.   We know how that era ended. It ended with victory, but at a terribly high price. We must never have to pay that price again. And there’s still time to ensure we don’t.”

Well this tweet aged as well as a popsicle in a sauna.
We should replace Democratic leadership with a bunch of bricks. We would have a better chance in midterms.

Trump allegedly lunging for wheel is a colorful anecdote, but it's the least significant aspect of Hutchinson's testimony, and something she didn't claim to have witnessed. It would be unfortunate if this devolved into a dispute over the sideshow of what happened in the limo

In other words, Stone concedes he had no legitimate basis for invoking the Fifth. Congress, you know what to do.
Roger Stone claims he invoked the Fifth Amendment to every question posed by the 1/6 committee because of Democrats' "long history of fabricating perjury charges," and not because he did anything wrong.

FYI: If Rittenhouse was in NYC, even if acquitted of the homicide/assault charges for the killings & shooting, he'd still face 3-1/2 to 15 years on the gun charge (self-defense is not applicable). That is, at least until the Supreme Court eviscerates our effective gun laws.

Just 4 years ago Flynn was the nation’s top national security official. He was forced to resign, not for being a wingnut conspiracy theorist who wants to overthrow democracy, but because he was caught lying about conversations with the Russian ambassador.
Michael Flynn tonight: “If we are going to have one nation under God, which we must, we have to have one religion. One nation under God, and one religion under God.”
I'm listening to NPR at 4 pm and they say the candidates for #NJGov are virtually even, that the margin is in the hundreds, and that the lead keeps going back and forth as results come in. I go to NY Times and CNN and they have Murphy up by nearly 17,000 votes. WTF NPR?

Counting on my very own Essex County, with <1% reporting, to pull us through, but damn. It shouldn't be this close. Murphy is popular! Just a terrible night for Dems. We have a year to get it together.

My election night hot take no one asked for: Republicans do much better *without* Trump or Trumpism on the ballot. White independents prefer the dog-whistles.

This is hard to believe and I will wait for more reporting. As of a week ago, the Commission was prepared to consider the full panoply of options for enforcement, while also avoiding lengthy legal wrangling. No reason to believe this has changed. politico.com/news/2021/09/29…

Note to press: Stop calling the handful of Dems holding up the Party’s agenda “moderates.” The overwhelming majority of moderates support the full reconciliation bill. The handful standing in the way are conservative Dems and oddball loners. nytimes.com/2021/10/03/us/po…

Kagan was one of the first to recognize the fascist threat posed by Trump back in May 2016. I don't agree with his politics, but he has been clear-eyed and prescient. washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

The Republican Party can now add pro-default to pro-Covid, and anti-democracy. They want to burn down the house, not to save it, but to stand atop the ashes.

Let's not forget that after the Senate reauthorized the Act by 98-0, and the House by 390-33, and Bush signed it into law, the Supreme Court's conservatives proceeded to gut it, setting aside Congress' findings. Judicial restraint indeed.

I’m just going to say it: the nullification of Roe is a direct consequence of undermining Hillary Clinton in 2016. Hell, it’s also a direct consequence of Nader’s profoundly misguided, dishonest “tweedledum and tweedledee” campaign in 2000.

I’ve been thinking this all week amidst the “historic, unprecedented blunder” chattering. Reagan blundered badly into Beirut and was punished by the voters with re-election by a landslide.
