NEW: EU politicians are pushing for the censorship of pro-life ideas online. ⬇️
In recent years, ADF has warned about the EU effort to control and censor the internet—not just in Europe, but around the world.
Now we’re getting a glimpse of what a Brussels-controlled internet would look like.
Recently, more than 65 members of the European Parliament officially questioned the European Commission about chatbots—such as ChatGPT, Grok, and Claude—that don’t consistently parrot pro-abortion talking points.
Rather than exclusively citing government or pro-abortion sources, these MEPs complained, some chatbots are directing users to pro-life content. Framing this as a threat to “the health, safety and fundamental rights of people in Europe,” these MEPs invoked the Digital Services Act, asking: “what steps has [the Commission] taken to investigate and address this issue?”
If there were ever any doubt that the EU’s censorship efforts are aimed at narrative control—not mere “online safety”—those doubts should now be put to rest.
Pro-life views have every right to compete in the online marketplace of ideas.
And free speech advocates everywhere must push back against EU censorship if they want that marketplace to remain open and free.
