Mohan’s UK visa arrived today, and very soon he will be leaving us for his higher education. 💙 So today, we had a small interaction session with Mohan and our week-old new batch of 120 students — of course, with cake and snacks for everyone. 😁 In the last six years, Mohan is the 67th Nalanda alumnus to go abroad for higher education. Hope his journey inspires many more students from this batch, and many more batches to come. Jai Bhim! 💙

A very proud moment for all of us at Nalanda Academy. Our alumnus, Mohan Kannake, has been featured by BBC News Marathi as he leaves for the UK to pursue a Master’s in Climate Change and Sustainability at Newcastle University. Coming from a landless family in Wardha, Mohan’s journey has been anything but easy. After Class 12, he discontinued his education, drove trucks and worked as a labourer. Nalanda Academy helped him return to education—and today, he is flying to England for his higher studies. This is what opportunities can do. Talent exists everywhere. 💙 So proud of you, Mohan. A few glimpses from today’s orientation class for the new batch of Nalanda Academy. 120 students from 15 states—almost all from rural, non-English-medium backgrounds. Fifty per cent of the students are women. For the next 10 months, they will train with us, completely free of cost, to prepare for admission to some of India’s leading higher educational institutions. 💙

For nearly six years, our team has worked day and night to build the Nalanda Abhiyan Campus—a national-level residential educational resource centre for the students from the marginalised backgrounds. One of the biggest reasons we have come this far is the local community of Wardha, which has always stood beside us—encouraging, supporting and helping us in every possible way. Last Sunday, the Wardha community once again joined us in full strength and reaffirmed its support for the campus. 🙏🙏 Here are a few glimpses of that love and solidarity.

A month ago, a group of women doctors from Bhandara visited Nalanda Academy and the campus site along with their families. Inspired by what they saw, they decided to stand with Nalanda and extend their wholehearted support to the campus. 💙 On 1 August, their group, ‘Bhimacha Leki’, along with the ‘SAAU Study Centre’, hosted a Community Meet in Bhandara. Team Nalanda was invited to share its journey and the vision of the upcoming campus with more than 300 doctors, teachers and other professionals.
