Wang Wang’s story became a point of no return for me. It revealed the terrifying truth about how defenseless animals remain in China—and how far human cruelty can go when people know they will face no real punishment for their actions.
A tiny dog and her puppies were killed with a level of deliberate cruelty that can neither be understood nor justified. But even more horrifying are the words: “It was only a dog.” As if her life meant nothing. As if she could not feel pain or fear. As if she were not a mother who stayed beside her babies until the very end.
Wang Wang has become a symbol of all the animals whose suffering is hidden, dismissed, or left unpunished. Her story showed the world that this was not an isolated tragedy, but part of a much greater problem that can no longer be ignored.
Today, hundreds of thousands of people in different countries are demanding justice. They are joining protests, signing petitions, sharing the stories of animals who have been killed, and calling on China to enact a real law against animal cruelty.
I desperately want to believe that our voices will be heard, but hope is fading. In a country where every major decision depends on those in power, only the government can stop this cruelty and introduce meaningful punishment. Yet money, influence, and control seem to matter more to it than the suffering of defenseless animals.
And still, we have no right to remain silent.
For Wang Wang and her puppies. For the cats and dogs who continue to suffer in silence. Do not stay silent. Speak about them, share their stories, sign petitions, and demand justice. Whispering is no longer enough—we must cry out so loudly that the world finally hears us and can no longer turn away.

The testing was conducted by Source Certain, a leading forensic laboratory that has worked with the FBI, Scotland Yard, Interpol and the Australian Federal Police.
It analysed 221 processed tomato products from 39 brands, including paste, passata and diced tomato.
Twenty-two per cent of the products failed country-of-origin testing, while a further 6 per cent were flagged for further testing.
All of the tomato products that failed testing came from China. Of those, the lab traced 53 per cent to East Turkistan (aka Xinjiang). The rest were confirmed as Chinese but the exact region could not be identified.

Dogs' screams could be heard clearly throughout the residential complex! Many people confronted the man at his home and called police.
Crowds gathered to surround his house of horrors. However, when police arrived, they merely took the dog abuser to the station—effectively protecting him—for a few days.
Many animal protection volunteers in #China refused to accept this outcome or the way the situation was handled, so they staged a collective protest.
The people being beaten in these videos are animal protection volunteers.
Furthermore, police arrested many volunteers, labeling them as members of "extremist animal groups" who were undermining social stability!

12 years ago today, my father, Ilham Tohti, was sentenced to life in prison for “separatism”—a charge that bears no resemblance to the work he dedicated his life to.
My father is an Uyghur economist, scholar, writer, educator, husband, father, and believer. Above all, he was a man who devoted his life and his own resources to fostering dialogue, supporting his community, bridging divides, and helping people understand one another.
