A recurring theme at the Saturday afternoon session of the October 2026 general conference was Jesus Christ’s power to lift His children. Speakers taught that the Savior of the world provides peace in times of grief, strength in moments of weakness, guidance through uncertainty and hope for individuals and families seeking His help. One highlight: Elder Ronald A. Rasband (@RonaldARasband) spoke to those whose hearts ache for loved ones who have strayed from the covenant path. He taught that while family members and friends cannot change another person’s heart, Jesus Christ can. Encouraging listeners to trust in the Savior’s love and redeeming power, he testified that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, there is always a way back. The Apostle said Christlike love remains a powerful influence in the lives of those who have chosen other paths. “Love is not stepping back or sanctioning others’ decisions and actions,” Elder Rasband said. “Love is being interested in their lives, their successes, and their challenges. Love is being there with arms outstretched and a cheerful countenance. Love is lifting with faith and hope in our Lord and Savior. Love relies upon the calming influence of the Holy Ghost.” Learn more on Church Newsroom. newsroom.churchofjesuschrist…

"Sin, at its most fundamental level, is not mere rule breaking. It is turning away from Christ—and at its worst, rejection, betrayal, disloyalty. And we all do it, in one way or another. But keeping the commandments and our covenants is an act of love and loyalty—it’s our invitation for Christ to abide with us." - Elder Dushku #BYUDevo

"I fear that some of the ways we talk can obscure how deeply personal Christ’s love for us is. We sometimes speak as if The Atonement is an impersonal entity or power we can appeal to or 'apply.' [...] It is Jesus Christ who saves us." - Elder Dushku #BYUDevo

The milestone was announced this week as the number of young women serving as full-time missionaries — over 30,000 — became the largest cohort of sister missionaries ever in the Church’s history. These missionaries serve in more than 500 missions around the world, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, serving in local communities and inviting others to come unto Christ. newsroom.churchofjesuschrist…
