🧵 THREAD: Randburg Court - Sibiya R10,000/day claim
/ The Randburg Magistrates' Court heard that the father of the 16-year-old girl whom suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya is accused of sexually grooming allegedly worked as his security guard at R10,000 per day.
/The claim was made by the investigating officer Detective Sgt Nokukhanya Ndlovu during Sibiya's bail hearing. The father is referred to as Mr M to protect the minor.
/ In a voice note played in court, Sibiya is heard telling the father: "You know I supported you. Many times, I gave you money – R10 000, R4 000, Uber money, tickets and my card so you can go buy groceries. I took you like my younger brother."
/In the same recording he says: "The easiest person to deal with is you. I can deal with you very quickly and easily." The officer also testified he said it could take a minute to wipe him and his family.
/ State says: Father gave Sibiya his daughter's number on 18 July to help fetch her from Centurion. Sibiya allegedly started a sexual WhatsApp chat with her on 20 July at 17:16, followed by a 51-minute call, and requested explicit material.
/ What Sibiya says: He denies grooming and will plead not guilty. He claims in his affidavit that the father sent him the explicit video of his own daughter and told him she had a crush on him.
/ Charges: 3x sexual grooming, 1x trafficking, 1x rape (18-year-old, separate incident), plus firearm charge. State is opposing bail and says it has a very strong case.
/ Bail postponed to 7 October. Magistrate ordered a proper translation of the voice notes. The court has not yet decided if the payments are connected to the grooming allegations.
