Tough way to go out for the season, my yearly thoughts on the season: 1) Hate seeing the Fever lose in a game that was winnable if either CC or KM had been on. Painful to watch them go out like that. 2) Roster was very obviously flawed from the start as the fanbase has said since pre-season; No frontcourt depth and heavily overpaid for players like Billings who ended up being unplayable, her contract especially will be tough to swallow next season. 3) Not really sure where they go from here. Wouldn’t be surprised if CC took a pay cut to bring in more help, but the front office has clearly shown they’re not competent enough to build a properly functioning roster, and thus leaves the question of if the front office changes or CC leaves because I’m not sure that those 2 can coexist. 4) I don’t know why it took so long to finally run well but I do think the big 3 of CC/KM/AB can work, but they absolutely have to have more help than what they were provided this season. I’d love to see that core work but it’s gonna take a major roster overhaul for that to happen and with the contracts that are already locked in I don’t know how feasible that is. All that said I’ll be following along the rest of the postseason but obviously not as active with CC not in the court. I know she’s gonna be tougher on herself for the loss than anyone else so I won’t pile on with what could have been done differently, but I think starting off year 4 healthy she’s only going to continue to get better and hopefully she gets to do it from a much better starting point than what we saw this season.
