Thank you to @MeckCounty Solid Waste & Recycling for hosting another great Touch‑a‑Truck event! Our officers had a fantastic time meeting families, answering questions and letting kids explore our vehicles. We loved seeing the community come together for such a fun and educational day!

"A helpless 4-year-old child was killed, and another adult was wounded and 14 others were faced to endure a barrage of gunfire that could have taken more innocent lives. The behavior of those responsible for these crimes was reckless, it was violent, it was irresponsible and it was unacceptable. And we cannot accept these kinds of actions as normal in our community. I cannot begin to tell you how angry I was when I learned of the incident. And it should make everybody else in this community equally angry." Today, CMPD provided an update on the four juveniles and one adult arrested in the senseless shooting that took the life of a 4-year-old child and injured an additional adult victim. Fourteen other individuals were inside the residences that were struck but were not physically harmed. In less than 60 seconds, a total of 84 rounds were fired, hitting four homes and endangering countless lives; an act of violence that is both shocking and completely unacceptable. This reckless disregard for human life has no place in our community, and it will not be tolerated. CMPD remains fully committed to holding those responsible accountable and to working tirelessly to prevent acts of violence like this from happening again. This investigation is active and ongoing. Any individual who had any part in this act will be brought to justice. If you have any information on this case, please contact our homicide detectives at 704-432-8477 or submit a tip anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or utilizing the P3 Tips mobile app.

Well, this was certainly a first... our EDU Officers encountered quite the situation this weekend when they stopped two gentlemen traveling down S. Tryon Street on a couch... Yes, an actual couch. We had questions too. 👀 While we appreciate the creativity, we do have to remind everyone: no matter what you’re “driving” (using that term extremely loosely 😅), please think about safety first. Ask yourself: Should this be on a road… with actual cars… will the sheer shock of seeing this on the road cause other drivers to lose focus and drive unsafely? If the answer feels even slightly like ‘yes,’ maybe rethink the ride. As a rule - probably best to leave the mobile furniture displays to IKEA. 💁‍♂️
