There’s a school of thought that would have it the solo ‘cellist was sited as far away from the chef d’orchestre and the audience as was physically possible. A school of thought to which I don’t subscribe, of course. It’s because I is an immigrant innit?
I’m still fretting over being married to an Old Age Pensioner. I mean not a bad one to be honest. And a half decent cook.
But I’m wondering if any of those wife swap programmes are still going? And if so how do you offer up the wife?
Talking of Pinson @NickAnt12345 the VIP weekend is middle weekend in November. Which I guess is no good to you. Me neither. My first ‘gig’ with a professional orchestra. Three days rehearsal and concert the Sunday night. 😟☹️😢
Just had a walk round the cellars at Domaine Pinson. Picked some ‘22 Mont de milieu and ‘23 Fourchaumes to fill some holes in the man cave (the OAP wife has a drink problem don’t you know?). Not a single bottle of ‘24 for sale……….all been exported. Quelle surprise.
Whilst worrying about the upcoming conservatoire presentation this popped up on my FB memories this morning. It’s the 1st anniversary of my introduction to the grumpy prof de violoncelle……
Been chosen by prof de violoncelle and our new conservatoire director to give a presentation and performance to new and prospective adult ‘cellists. In two weeks. I’m the only immigrant. Either they don’t want new students or they want an excuse to expel me. Either way I’m fucked
6 weeks into the fitness/diet regime. 5.3kg of the target 10kg gone. 5k time dropped from around 40 minutes to just over 27 minutes. Still very slow but I’m nearer 70 than 65 now. But hopefully be able to run sub 25 by the time I get to Tokyo and hence keep up with number 1 son.
The fall out over the Tokyo trip reminds me of a conversation a couple of months after we married.
‘I’m off to Chablis for the fetes des vins this weekend, wife.’
‘You’re married now, remember?’
‘I know. But I always go to the fetes des vins.’
‘I’m not saying you shouldn’t go. Just that now you’re married you ought to discuss these things with your wife first.’
‘Oh ok. I was thinking I might go to the fetes des vins this weekend, wife. Is that ok with you?’
‘No.’
Just had a message from one of my Dutch clients asking if I have any ‘24 Dauvissat 1er cru left? He took 3 cases of 6 off me earlier in the year. Says it superb and can he take the rest? Am I missing something here?
I tell you what I do like and admire about the malignant, narcissistic, megalomaniac, man-baby leader of the Tesla cult. And for once I’m not joking. I’m being sincere. What I do like and admire…..
Nothing. Absolutely fucking nothing. 🤢
Next Tokyo question!
Especially the ‘legendary’ @mara_yamauchi
Any advice on where to stay for a long weekend reasonably central but very near a parkrun?
To non runners any advice on where to base ourselves full stop? We’d like to walk rather than take public transport. 🙏
Thanks again for all the flying advice. It really is appreciated. Decided to fly out to Tokyo just for the weekend but after my two Paris concerts rather than before so I don’t have to deal with the jet lag on my return. Also works better for son’s Japan itinerary. 👍🙏🛫🛬
Thanks for all the advice on the flight front mes amis/amies. Seems like flying back from Tokyo then having concerts on the first 2 nights won’t work.
So if I do it I’ll go 10 days earlier and stop for a week. Give me a week to recover before concerts.
Defo business class!
Advice needed from my globe trotter Twitter pals please?
I’m Thinking of hopping over to Tokyo to catch up with long lost son for his birthday. Worried about jet lag. (Not flown for many years). 13 hour flight. Would a weekend or a week be less risky on that front?
