The juice is boiling ahead of the midterms. (There IS a correlation, btw.)
Dude fired for teenaged tweets, white women fired for wearing cornrows to Burning Man, gay bar getting canceled for skeleton costume that looked like blackface. We are so back. advocate.com/news/culture/pi…

“They’re not CHECKS, they’re DIVIDENDS!” TRUMP: “They are literally checks”
If Republicans win the House of Representatives and the Senate in the 2026 Midterm Elections, I’m going to give all adult citizens in the United States of America, $5,000! Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to signing those checks!
Community note
This repeats a promise Trump made in September 2026. The US has approximately 250 million adult citizens so the total cost would be over 1.25 trillion dollars. Congress must approve any such federal spending. nytimes.com/2026/09/10/us/… pbs.org/newshour/polit…

This is absolutely priceless. Tucker just states as fact that Russia has a much larger economy than the UK, is completely wrong and gets schooled.

I maintain you should have to resign your present elected position to seek a different office. Would cut down on this nonsense.
JUST IN: Sen. Chris Van Hollen tells Zeteo he’s weighing a 2028 presidential bid — “I’m very focused on kicking the tires on a 2028 national campaign.”

I am increasingly getting the impression that progressives just straight up don't support the idea of balanced laws and impartial justice at all and want to use the justice system as a partisan agent on behalf of certain groups of people who they empathize with.

Hating Mormons is one of those things that signals to me that someone is mentally unwell. They're so nice and warm and genuine. How could you actually dislike them?

POLITICO — Sen. Thom Tillis lashed out in private texts to Donald Trump earlier this year — saying he refused to take the president’s “bullshit” — and that, had Trump directly threatened him with a primary challenge — he would’ve “immediately told you to fuck yourself.” politico.com/playbook

Declaring woke “over,” as many folks in this circle did, after winning a 49-47 election in 2024 was always profoundly stupid.

Putting the pedal to the floor when you eke out a victory, as both parties love to do, backfires in this era of deep, intense negative polarization. It strengthens the opposition and inevitably leads to backlash. Republicans are about to see that for themselves in a month

But no lessons will be learned. No lessons are ever learned. Dolchstoßlegenden abound. It was rigged. We just weren’t radical enough. Round and round we go, circling the drain at ever-increasing speed.

Our society shows far more grace to teenagers who committed heinous crimes than it does to teenagers who sent bad tweets.
The Trail Blazers have parted ways with newly hired TV play-by-play announcer Braiden Bell after old racist tweets he posted as a teenager resurfaced, per @ChrisBHaynes

Multiple factors, but here are the key reasons imo 1. Games between big programs just feel like two groups of mercenaries facing off. The teams don’t feel as tied to the fanbase or community as much anymore because guys are only there for like eight months. 2. Mercenary teams means sloppy football for the first month. And not in the fun Pac-12 way. 3. The broadcast feels like a vehicle that purely exists to get you sign up for a sportsbook. They have to dial it back. It’s too much. 4. The pregame shows don’t feel like they actually love the sport, but rather just love the conference that pays them more. 5. Vibes are off, generally.
College football viewership is down 11% through September compared to last season. FBS game broadcasts are averaging 1.7 million viewers across all Nielsen-rated networks.

An opinion about Kennedy: With his sterling education and considerable talents, he had a chance to be a real statesman, a "lion of the Senate." Instead, he chose to become another Fox troll, with cornpone. Our present age is, among other things, a diminishing one.
Sen. Kennedy, in particular, is the picture of smug, ignorant triumph, emblematic of this age.
