Attendance is improving in several states. 📈 But improvement is not completion. This week's #FactFriday: • Mississippi: chronic absenteeism down from 27.6% to 26.5%, yet 115,385 students remain chronically absent • Oregon: third straight year of better regular attendance • Maryland: down from nearly 32% to almost 23%, still short of the state goal • Ohio: Utica Shale Academy added 10 vans with $900K in rural transportation funding. Chronic absenteeism fell 6.2%. 🚐 A statewide rate shows whether something changed. Leaders need to know why. 📊 Himanshi Sharma, Senior Director of Product at Concentric Educational Solutions, focuses on one question: What decision should this number drive? Turn the numbers districts already have into the next right action. ✅ Read more: concentriced.org/insights/bl… #ConcentricEducationalSolutions #ChronicAbsenteeism #K12

October is National Principals Month 🍎 Principals set the tone every morning. They greet students by name, notice who's missing, and make the first call home when a seat sits empty. Attendance starts with belonging, and principals build belonging every day. Thank you to every school leader who shows up so students show up too. 💚 #NationalPrincipalsMonth #ChronicAbsenteeism #K12Leadership

We built AI into Concentric360, and one rule guided every decision along the way: AI recommends, people decide. 🙋 That sounds simple, but it's not a small thing. When you're working with families going through some of the hardest moments in their lives, an algorithm should never be the one making the call. So every AI output in Concentric360 is labeled, sourced, and reviewable. It surfaces patterns and suggests next steps, but it never makes attendance, safety, or eligibility decisions on its own. Technology should support the relationship. It should never replace it. That's true of a home visit, and it's true of the AI underneath it. ✨ We see that as the thread running through everything we've shared this launch month: the problem, the people, the pathways, and now the tech behind it all. If Concentric360 sounds like something your district, city, or board needs, we're ready when you are. Get in touch: concentriced.org/contact #ConcentricEducationalSolutions #ResponsibleAI #EdTech

Getting a kid back in class matters. But if that's the whole story, we haven't actually finished the job. 🎓 Disconnection doesn't stay inside a school building. A student who checks out at 15 without support can just as easily become a disconnected 21-year-old showing up in a totally different system, with none of the history attached. Concentric360 was built to keep that thread from getting lost. Early identification connects straight into career exploration, training, and job readiness through our Digital Workforce Center. For workforce boards, that means getting involved earlier instead of meeting someone as a statistic with no context. For city leaders, it means one coordinated view instead of systems that never talk to each other. Getting someone back in the seat is step one. Making sure that seat leads somewhere is the actual goal. 🌱 See how it works: concentriced.org/concentric3… #ConcentricEducationalSolutions #WorkforceDevelopment #YouthEmployment

🚪 Concentric360 started with a knock on a door. In a new piece for @edCircuit, our CEO Molly Hebert Loyd shares how home visits in Baltimore grew into a platform built to reconnect young people to school, training and work. 🏡 Our advocates learned early: The most reliable way to find students who need help is to sit down with their families and listen. 🤝 Concentric360 brings schools, cities, workforce boards and community partners together around one shared view of each young person, so support reaches families sooner. 👉 Read the full piece: edcircuit.com/how-home-visit… #ConcentricEducationalSolutions #ChronicAbsenteeism #Concentric360

Chronic absenteeism builds one missed day at a time. So does progress. 📈 In this week's Fact Friday, Himanshi Sharma, Senior Director of Product at Concentric, looks at four attendance stories through a single lens: accumulation. 🏫 Alliance Public Schools in Nebraska cut chronic absenteeism from 48.3 percent to 19.8 percent over four consecutive years. Trusted adults, mentorship, stronger family relationships, and community-wide attendance messaging all played a role. 🎨 In Rhode Island, a statewide review linked sustained arts participation to lower chronic absenteeism. Seniors with four years of music instruction posted rates roughly 35 to 59 percent lower than peers without sustained music participation. 🏠 Campbell County, Tennessee ranks 94th of 95 counties for chronic absenteeism and 85th for child poverty, a reminder that students don't experience attendance apart from the rest of their lives. 📅 Richland School District One in South Carolina is using Attendance Awareness Month to help families understand the cost of repeated absences before a pattern takes hold. The takeaway? What repeats compounds. Himanshi urges schools to look beyond the final percentage and ask a sharper question: What is accumulating for this student right now? Absences and barriers? Or relationships, participation, and positive routines? The conversations that actually explain why a student stopped coming to school don't happen over text. 📱 They happen at a kitchen table, in a language a family is actually comfortable in, with someone who came to listen instead of checking a box. That's the whole idea behind our Professional Student Advocates, and it's baked into how Concentric360 works. Automated outreach handles what it can, quickly and in multiple languages. When the automated outreach is not enough, a real person shows up at the door. We'll say this plainly because it matters to us: this is not surveillance with a friendlier name. Every visit is consent-forward. Recording is optional and always up to the family. Our advocates are there to understand barriers, not to catch someone doing something wrong. 🙅‍♀️ If you're a district or community org already doing relationship-first work, this is built to support that, not to replace it. Curious how it works? Reach out. concentriced.org/concentric3… #ConcentricEducationalSolutions #StudentAdvocacy #FamilyEngagement

💈 A principal in Metro Detroit was grappling with a spike in absenteeism. She asked her team who in town sees their students outside of school, and the usual names came up- ministers, coaches, the director of the local Y. Then her longtime secretary said one word from the doorway: barbers. A staff member visited the shop that Saturday. The owner knew who had stopped coming in, whose mom lost a job, who had no ride since the family car died. He knew more than the attendance report did, and nobody had ever asked him. 🏠 Elsewhere, a family's kids stopped attending because the washing machines in their building broke and they were too embarrassed to show up in dirty clothes. They missed nearly five days before an adult learned why. The fix took one phone call. In his new post for the Concentric blog, Paul DeAngelis, Regional Partnerships Director at Concentric Educational Solutions, names four partners worth adding this fall: barbers and stylists, the housing authority, pediatricians and dentists, and the transit system. 🚌 📌 Read the full blog here: concentriced.org/insights/bl… #ConcentricEducationalSolutions #ChronicAbsenteeism #K12Leadership #StudentAttendance

16% of young people ages 18 to 24 are considered disconnected, not in school, not working, not in training, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. 📊 That number is huge, but it hides something more important: disconnection is almost never one thing. It's a housing situation falling apart. A teenager quietly taking on caregiving duties. A health issue nobody at school ever heard about. Most tools built for schools, cities, and workforce boards were designed to catch the symptom, the missed day, the dropped case, not the reason behind it. And because every system only sees its own slice of a kid's life, the "why" gets lost in the handoff. Concentric360 was built to close that gap by connecting school, city, and workforce systems around the real story, not just the data point. If you work in one of those systems and you're tired of only seeing half the picture, let's talk. 🤝 Learn more: concentriced.org/concentric3… #ConcentricEducationalSolutions #NEETyouth #WorkforceDevelopment

Schools have more attendance data than ever. Chronic absenteeism is still a national challenge. 📊 In this week's Fact Friday on the Concentric Educational Solutions Leadership blog, our Senior Director of Product Himanshi Sharma explains why. Knowing who is absent and knowing what to do next are two different things. 🔍 Once a student is flagged, someone still has to reach the family, understand the barrier, connect the right support, and follow up. ✅ The real measure of success is whether the young person actually reconnected, not how many alerts or referrals were logged. Today's the day. 🎉 A year ago we set out to solve one story that keeps repeating in communities everywhere: a kid stops showing up to school, and nobody quite knows why. Maybe it's housing. Maybe a parent lost a job. Maybe there's a health issue nobody's talking about. The school has a piece of that story. The city has another piece. A workforce board might have a piece too, years later, once that same young person shows up as "disconnected." But none of these systems talk to each other, and the kid falls through the gap in between. That's what we built Concentric360 to fix. The actual human problem underneath it all. Our CEO, Molly Hebert Loyd, wrote about why, and what today means for the families and communities we work with. Give it a read; it's worth it. 📖 "Today's the Day": concentriced.org/insights/bl… #ConcentricEducationalSolutions #ChronicAbsenteeism #YouthDisconnection

Getting a student back to school is one challenge. Keeping them there is the next one. Newark Public Schools reportedly cut chronic absenteeism in half this year. The real question: what happens after the number moves? 📊 This week's Fact Friday, written by Himanshi Sharma, Concentric's Senior Director of Product, looks at what sustains progress: earlier data on emerging patterns, preventable barriers like Ohio's vaccine documentation gaps, and the Denver Broncos' new Attendance Network. 🏈 Full breakdown here: ✏️ concentriced.org/insights/bl…

More than one in four Ohio students missed enough school last year to count as chronically absent. 📊 House Bill 96 rewrote the rules: how absences get counted, what attendance policies must include, and how fast districts have to act. Every district had to update its policy by August 1, 2026. The funding to do something about it isn't a new ask. It already flows through state and federal dollars districts receive every year, DPIA and Title funds included, and home visits are a direct answer to what the law now requires. 🏫 Paul DeAngelis, Regional Partnership Director, breaks down exactly where the money is: 👇 concentriced.org/insights/bl… #ChronicAbsenteeism #OhioSchools #K12Education #SchoolAttendance #ConcentricEducationalSolutions
