Proud to stand with dozens of
#TexasHouse colleagues in support of detransitioner Soren Aldaco’s case that will be heard by SCOTX next week.
Soren has courageously testified at
#txlege numerous times about gender modification harms inflicted on her and the egregious effect of a 2yr statute of limitations wielded by practitioners to escape responsibility for life-altering damages.
I am deeply grateful for Soren’s help with HB888 (88R) and HB1088 (89R) to remove claims like hers from med mal limitations.
We’ve made much progress in several areas to protect Texas children from gender modification atrocities, from banning procedures on and puberty blockers to children, as well as requiring insurance coverage for medical complications for detransitioners—BUT we are not done and I look forward to refiling our 888/1088 the moment filing opens this fall. While at it, I hope to also remove these claims from med mal damage caps altogether.
What happened to Soren was an absolute atrocity, and House Republicans are uniting to ensure there is no shelter for gender mod practitioners who harm Texans.
