The GATE Program: MK Ultra Lite?
Gifted
And
Talented
Education
The official story of the program is that it launched in California in 1980.
The program identified “gifted” students (typically IQ 130+) through tests + teacher recommendations.
It then provided pull-out classes, enrichment, and accelerated curriculum in intellect, creativity, leadership, or arts.
Yet..thousands of alumni from the 1980s–2000’s describe unsettling testing.
Windowless rooms, “hearing tests” with binaural beats, Zener/ESP cards, symbol-memory games, fluoride swishes, thumbs up tests, and pink drinks—experiences that often triggered isolation, perfectionism, anxiety, social struggles.

I have my own story. I think I was also a GATE kid.
It was 2003-2006, 4th/5th grade. I get pulled for “gifted” program. Except it’s just me (maybe 2-3 others max) and this random short-haired blonde woman with ice-blue eyes, appears out of nowhere.
She only ever arrived for these visits.
Maybe three times total. And then POOF, gone after 6 months. Never saw her again.
They would remove us (the 2-3) from the main class, use an empty classroom, cover the windows with paper, play audio tests into our headphones, and do prompts with the compass arrow to try and get us to move it.
Alot of the other prompts I can’t fully remember.
The most vivid memory I have from these visits: One day I hand-write a 4-page “paper”… and the cover of it, is a massive, perfectly shaded, perfectly symmetrical swastika that I colored in like a professional.
I was only between 7-9 years old.
She (the blonde lady) just sat there watching me do it. Smiling. Like it was the most normal thing in the world.
Like a 7 year old should know how to draw that or that it was normal they had me doing that, while isolated from everyone else.
No teacher ever mentioned it to me.
The lady was not part of our school staff.
I’m just confused by this memory, like.. wtf? why?
If this sounds even remotely familiar, tell me I’m not crazy. Reply or DM me your stories. I need to know more.
