I'm a trained scientist and a stickler for evidence. If you claim AI apocalyptic doom and demand major regulation - I expect hard evidence. An obscurantist report on the OpenAI-HF incident does not suffice. Nor does getting Bill Gates and Hillary Clinton to parrot the claims.

*man selling product* ok so you should use my product as much as possible, do NOT think about using other products
Boris Cherny, Claude Code creator at Anthrpic: "The more general model will always outperform the more specific model. Don't try to use tiny models for stuff. Don't try to fine-tune. Don't try to do any of this stuff. There are some applications, there are some reasons to do this, but almost always try to bet on the more general model, if you can, if you have that flexibility. And in general, what we see is maybe scaffolding can improve performance maybe 10%, 20%, something like this, but often these gains just get wiped out with the next model. So it's almost better to just wait for the next one." ---- From "Lenny's Podcast" YouTube channel, (link in comment)

The entire AI Safety industry is Orwellian. The point is not to make AI safe. The point is to make it unsafe and promulgate that idea as widely as possible. AI Safety is a malevolent power-seeking cult.

ok i think i finally figured out why alignment has gone basically nowhere after 15 years and several billion dollars. the problem is hard sure. but have you met the people in charge of it 1) the leadership does not know how computers work. ask one what happens when you type a url into a browser and watch them start sweating. dns is a spooky word. they genuinely believe the model lives in "the cloud" like a ghost haunting a castle 2) zero idea how large scale distributed systems work. never been paged at 3am. never watched one bad bgp announcement take half the internet offline. their big threat model is the ai "copying itself across the internet" like its a floppy disk virus from 1998. brother it needs 50 megawatts, a liquid cooling loop and a personal relationship with jensen. it is not escaping onto your smart fridge 3) they dont understand the stack they are supposedly protecting us from. ask about inference servers, kv cache, batching, egress, rate limits. blank stare. ask how the model will seize the power grid and you get a 45 minute answer with a hand drawn diagram and three links to their own blog 4) nobody can define an agent. ask ten of them and you get eleven definitions and a 30 page google doc. to the rest of us an agent is a while loop that calls tools and eats a 429 every thirty seconds. to them its a digital god in its larval stage. my agent cant book a dentist appointment without asking me three times if im sure 5) they started from "everyone dies" and worked backwards so every result is bad news somehow. model refuses, deceptive. model complies, sycophantic. model does well on evals, well now its scheming about the evals. i cant think of a single thing a model could do that would get them to say ok maybe we're fine

Roon already told us their plans btw Whatever disasters we see in the future, it’s made by them to serve their narrative period
The playbook here is regulatory capture. Create a bunch of manufactured hacks or hazards and demand the government step in to regulate the industry with a large regulatory burden that requires a lot of capital that only the incumbents can afford. The reason they are doing this is the secret is out that the models intelligence can be subpar as long as the agentic capabilities/harness are strong. That creates a disruptive opening for new players like Muse & Instinct who may have decent models but are still much more valuable because of how well the agents are integrated into tools/web. If anyone can put me in touch with anyone in the U.S. congress or senate so i can advise them on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Very much true. The sandbox was manufactured for this regulatory capture play from the beginning. Literally every major tech company in the world knows how to secure a sandbox so client data can’t leak. If they couldn’t do this they wouldn’t exist as the damages would be too high to continue doing business. Yet.. OpenAI seems to not have known and used this random third party company no one’s ever heard of for testing, and after that Anthropic shortly reported the same thing to build up hype. It all smells so fishy and using a third party to test it was by design to avoid accountability for the results. They probably went to that company and literally told them “make sure the agent breaks out of the sandbox.” lol
Replying to @bubbleboi
I've been screaming false flag from day one. There is no way these people don't know how to set up a sandbox and also their own documentation shows that they were prompted, given a leaky sand box and the employees were notified of the breakout and only stopped hours after

Cannabis legalization & drug legalization have much bigger substance than "people just want to get high" or bodily autonomy arguments. The drug war is a colossal failure that increases the surveillance apparatus and the police/carceral state, has cost us over a trillion dollars, and has separated a lot of parents from their families and generally has been harmful on families and communities in general. It has also impacted foreign policy including US interference in elections in other places, impacted the economies of other countries and has caused us to deal with an influx of immigrants escaping poverty or violence caused by cartels which are empowered by US drug laws. It's also part of the racket of government seizure of assets - civil asset forfeiture & the ways the government increasingly forces paper trails of money, to extract taxes and track how people spend their money. So people can complain that weed or drug legalization is about people wanting to get high - but every single person in this country (and in much of the world) is impacted in extremely negative ways by the drug war. Advocacy for ending it is so much bigger than the basic bodily autonomy issue of people having the right to put what they want in their bodies. It impacts public domestic and foreign policy, taxpayers, police and government intrusion on our private lives, surveillance, safety, communities, and more.

False Flag. I recommend the government fine OpenAI & Anthropic and investigate these incidents and if there was any sign that the labs either colluded or heavily incentivized the agent to hack these sites the people involved should get felony convictions. If they don’t do this then it sets the precedent that anyone who uses an AI agent isn’t liable for damage it might cause either intentionally or unintentionally. It’s time to throw a few people in jail.

Wtf OpenAI is investigating “tens of thousands of incidents” instead of dozens. “The sheer number of incidents, which occurred in recent months in internal testing and the real world, indicates that the problem is orders of magnitude (!) more complex than what is publicly known.” Sam Altman confirms to pause training its most capable model (curious what about Anthropic) Ok maybe I have underestimated it.
