I joined Leader Jeffries and House Democrats to demand that the Republican majority focus on lowering costs, expand health care, and create jobs for working people. We heard directly from Americans struggling with the cost of living, including John Hansen, President of the Nebraska Farmers Union for more than 20 years, who laid out how rising diesel prices, caused by Trump's war in Iran, are hurting farmers nationwide and driving up grocery bills for American families. I will keep fighting in Congress to end this war, bring down costs, and put more money back in the pockets of working people.

Stagnant job growth, high prices, and climbing inflation wiping out wage gains. If this is the "golden age" Trump's talking about, I don't see it.

Another lackluster US Jobs Report as unemployment rises. 📈 Pres Trump’s tariffs, Iran War and corruption are to blame. Meanwhile the GOP Congress sent us home and did nothing to help. America deserves better.
Breaking: The U.S. added 29,000 jobs in September, far short of expectations. The unemployment rate rose to 4.2%. on.wsj.com/4ea9cO5

Remember Trump’s promises to “end inflation” and bring down costs for Americans? Well, thanks to Trump’s reckless tariffs and war of choice in Iran, the average American family has spent at additional $4,200 under Trump since last year. More broken promises.

Over the past year the FDA has lost over 4,000 employees, and this number is only growing. Drastic cuts to the FDA's staff are a direct threat to our food safety system. The system doesn't work if you take out all the people who do the work.

Michiganders are feeling the pressure of rising energy prices.

We need policies that lower costs for working men and women — not ones that hand Big Tech a blank check while asking Michiganders to pick up the tab. bridgemi.com/guest-commentar…

Donald Trump and House Republicans promised to lower costs on day one. Instead, they gave their billionaire friends tax cuts and left working families to pick up the tab. So when Americans feel pessimistic about the economy, they have every reason to ask: Who is this economy actually working for? washingtonsun.com/economy/am…

Trump’s deal with AI executives is essentially, “trust but don’t verify.” We need federal safety standards that are enforceable to prevent catastrophic consequences, not voluntary promises.
The White House accord that secured a "morally binding" commitment on AI safety capped an extraordinary day for the AI race across three capitals of American power. axios.com/2026/09/30/ai-cons…

Health care premiums skyrocketed this year because Republicans refused to extend ACA tax credits that help Americans afford their health insurance. Republicans continue to prioritize the needs of their billionaire friends over hardworking American families.

It should be clear by now that Trump doesn’t care about the health of the American economy or of our planet, but in case it wasn’t—here’s another example. These fuel efficiency standards helped lower fuel costs for Americans, made our air more breathable, and reduced pollution to combat the climate crisis, but Trump decided lining the pockets of fossil fuel companies was more important than delivering for Americans. nytimes.com/2026/09/26/clima…

391,000 jobs across the country, many of them here in Houston, are funded by NIH research grants. People in those jobs are working to cure cancer, Alzheimer's, ALS, and more. When I asked Secretary Kennedy in April why he would cede our biomedical leadership—and jobs—to China, his "thoughtful answer" was that "NIH is funding a lot of crazy stuff."

After a long year, the holidays should be a time to rest and celebrate. Instead, the cost of heating your home and traveling will SURGE this winter. The American people need relief. Trump and Republicans have failed to deliver.
It’s shaping up to be an expensive winter. Consumers are facing a flurry of added costs in the coming months: ballooning home heating prices, skyrocketing airfares, higher gas prices and package delivery surcharges. nbcnews.com/business/economy…

Gas prices are skyrocketing from Trump’s reckless Iran War.   Americans have spent an additional $83 billion on gas since the beginning of the war – that’s $699 more for the average American family. It’s time to end the war.
