The first ever Cyber fugitive on FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list has been captured and is now in U.S. custody.
With the arrest of Anibal Alexander Canelon Aguirre, the number of Most Wanted criminals apprehended has reached double digits. This marks a historic tenth fugitive caught since January 2025.
Canelon Aguirre is wanted for his alleged role in leading an international ATM “jackpotting” scheme for Tren de Aragua, a designated foreign terrorist organization. His network infects ATMs across the country with malware to force them to dispense cash without legitimate transactions – a crime known as ATM jackpotting.
Since 2017, FBI has tracked approximately 2,500 of these incidents, with losses exceeding $63 million.
But today, we are surging efforts to crush transnational gangs and defend the homeland from cybercrime.
@FBIOmaha and our Cyber teams have targeted the entire jackpotting network, from ringleaders and malware developers to ground crews. Working with DOJ, we have secured charges against more than 120 jackpotting defendants.
And now, with Canelon Aguirre’s capture, we took down the alleged architect of this whole criminal enterprise.
