Proud to serve as the 32nd Governor of New Mexico. Wife, mother, grandmother, 12th generation New Mexican, pet mom, and green chile enthusiast.

New Mexico
For more than 25 years, trucks bound for WIPP have been rolling down New Mexico highways. As of this week, the Department of Energy is helping with the upkeep: a $10 million grant to rehabilitate the US 285 Relief Route. Well-maintained roads are a safety measure for every driver using US 285. Thank you to DOE and our congressional delegation for getting this done. It's a solid down payment, and New Mexico will keep asking for the rest. (photo credit: Department of Energy)

This weekend, hundreds of balloons will begin filling Albuquerque’s skies for the Balloon Fiesta, one of New Mexico’s favorite traditions. Whether you’re watching the mass ascension from Balloon Fiesta Park with a breakfast burrito in hand or spotting balloons from across the city, I hope you get a chance to enjoy the magic.

Investing in New Mexico’s families isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s how we build a stronger economy. From free child care to free college and job training, we’re investing in New Mexicans from cradle to career.   New Mexico is delivering for working families. And if we can do it, the rest of America can, too.

House fires. Car wrecks. Medical emergencies. Hazardous materials calls. Bernalillo Fire and Rescue answers more than 2,500 of these calls every year, working alongside neighboring departments. Monday this week we broke ground on a new fire station for these hard-working crews: living quarters, training rooms, and three truck bays on the old Roosevelt Elementary site. Thank you to Mayor Torres, Rep. Lente, Chief Estrada, and every firefighter in Bernalillo. 🚒 #NewMexico #NewMexicoTrue #NMStrong

Universal coverage doesn’t mean free health care for everyone. It means making sure every New Mexican has an affordable way to access coverage. In New Mexico,we have pulled every lever available to expand access and ensure that all New Mexicans can afford their health care premium. As a result, New Mexico was the only state in the nation this year to see an enrollment increase on our state exchange, BeWell. Affordable access to health care is a human right. In New Mexico, we’re committed to protecting it for generations to come.

It's 9/25. 9 to 5 day. And in New Mexico, I have proclaimed it Dolly Parton Day. Artist Melanie Posner just finished this beautiful mural of Dolly in Hobbs: instagram.com/therealmelpoz?… Dolly worked overtime for New Mexico kids. Her Imagination Library started in Grant County in 2010 with just 8 children. Today it reaches more than 32,000 kids in all 33 counties, with nearly 2 million free books delivered to every zip code in our state. In homes that get her books, daily reading nearly doubled. Thank you, Dolly. 💛 Kids under 5 can sign up for free at imaginationlibrary.com

New Census data shows our poverty rate is declining at three times the national rate. And when you account for programs that put money back in families’ pockets, New Mexico’s child poverty rate has fallen nearly in half — from 20.9% to 10.9%. This hopeful news reflects choices we’ve made together: making college more affordable, cutting taxes for working families, expanding food and housing assistance and investing directly in New Mexico’s kids. And these numbers don’t yet reflect universal no-cost child care, which just launched last November.

People say that Republicans and Democrats just can’t get along. Well, my friend Spencer Cox — the Republican Governor of Utah — and I get along great. We may not agree on a lot of public policy, but we have a good time together and we disagree respectfully. Governor Cox’s Disagree Better campaign is just what American needs right now, and I’m proud to be a part of it.

New Mexico, heavy rain and flash flooding are expected across the state through Thursday, and burn-scar areas are at high to very high risk. We're ready. The State Emergency Operations Center is activated. National Guard swiftwater teams are in place near Ruidoso and Las Vegas, with regional teams on standby in Doña Ana, Santa Fe, Sandoval and Valencia counties. More than 5,000 sandbags are already out in communities, and we can send more wherever local leaders need them. Please do your part: -If you're told to evacuate, go right away. -Never walk or drive through flood water. Turn Around, Don't Drown. -Never drive around barricades. -Skip camping and outdoor plans this week. Need sandbags? Check with your city or county for pickup locations. Flood safety tips: dhsem.nm.gov Look out for each other, New Mexico.

New Mexicans — and the international aviation community — turned out in Roswell this weekend for the National Championship Air Races, and we had a blast! During the event, I announced $3 million in state funding to upgrade the Air Center, repave roads and improve drainage so this championship event can grow here for years to come. In just over a year, this community built five racecourses from scratch, poured new grandstands, and opened its doors to visitors from across the country and the world, with Artesia, Carlsbad, and Ruidoso pitching in when Roswell's hotels sold out. Congratulations, Roswell. ✈️ #NewMexico #NMStrong #RoswellAirRaces

At a moment when fewer visitors from abroad are choosing America, more are choosing New Mexico. While international travel to the U.S. dropped 5.5% in 2025, New Mexico moved in the opposite direction — welcoming roughly 10,000 more international visitors than the year before, bringing our total to an estimated 760,000 international travelers.

Eric Witt ––  the architect of New Mexico’s film industry –– believed that attracting film and television productions was an investment in New Mexicans that would create opportunities for generations to come. The Eric Witt Studio at the Albuquerque Rail Yards carries his vision forward by honoring our history while preparing New Mexicans to lead the next generation of film, media arts and entertainment. Eric saw challenges as opportunities. The best way we can honor his legacy is to keep leaning in, keep building and keep believing in what’s possible tomorrow.

Big test for the Lobos on the road against the Oklahoma Sooners this Saturday — but I’m feeling good about our chances. Go Lobos — let’s make it 3-0 to start the season!

Today I met with the U.S. Commission on Quantum Primacy to show them why New Mexico is quantum-leaping to the fore of quantum computing research. We've committed $450 million in state investments and built a rapidly scaling quantum startup ecosystem, anchored by Sandia and Los Alamos National Labs, Roadrunner Venture Studios, and the only entanglement-based quantum network in the U.S. The future of quantum tech is being built right here in our backyard, and we could not be more excited! ⚛️

Today’s Supreme Court decision affirms a fundamental principle of a functioning democracy: voting shouldn't be harder for some Americans than for others. This ruling means that voters of every ability, means, and zip code still get to have their say at the ballot box. It means that no decision about the lives of everyday New Mexicans — or Americans — gets made without them. Here in New Mexico, we’ll keep leading the nation with safe, secure, accessible elections.

New Mexico was New Mexico long before America was America. Our name is part of our history, our Constitution and our identity and no political stunt can change that. More from my conversation with @MeidasTouch meidasnews.com/news/new-mexi…
