Now this is AI use I like! Efficiency, not replacement! He's using the skills he has, AND AI together to accelerate what he's already skilled at, and then some!
Here’s how I use AI in my workflow.
These are glowing, red-hot spike hazards for a background. I drew the initial rough sketch first.
Previously, I would have rendered the details by hand—taking maybe 30 minutes.
And keep in mind, this is just a tiny background element. Spending time rendering it only to find it doesn't match the background environment is a huge waste of time. By running it through AI, it gets rendered in seconds.
I can quickly place it in-game to test the fit, then manually fine-tune it.
For me, AI is simply a tool—no different from a ruler or a compass. Nothing more, nothing less.
