Agentic coding with Odin + Metal. The goal is to establish a workflow which produces high quality software as effectively and quickly as possible

I got one-shotted by this yesterday, I had to make my own. Includes text file and photo preview, search, zoxide integration, copy, cut, paste, rename, delete, a "gather" mode for do all that in bulk, ... All in Odin + Metal, no UI library, 1.2MB installed
spent a couple of hours today on creating a file browser that works exactly how I would want it to work, even if it would drive any other person insane

This is how fast the image previews are

This is why I believe Odin is a much better choice than the trendy Rust for agentic coding. Same would apply to C and Zig, probably something else as well...

1. Fast compile times means fast feedback loop (~2s debug) 2. Batteries includes, good standard libraries 3. Simple language, there just isn't that much to choose from. The agent can't really write nonsensical Odin, especially after I gave it some reference files

Finally there's a fast model and it's Sonnet 5.5 - last time I had feedback loop this fast was Composer 2 and that was a long time ago. It's not even that high TPS, it's fast because it just does the thing that I ask for and nothing else
12
Instead of this, everyone just wants the problem to be solved near-instantly - create a custom interface for this on the spot at 5000 TPS, show the results, then let me either write or say what I want as feedback. The machines need to shut the fuck up
dots demo. Now... with better WiFi.

I would add "making an effort is considered cringe and is implicitly discouraged"
France is a prime example of Europe's failures in the last 30 years: - A state obsessed with past glory and power, becoming increasingly irrelevant - Horrible immigration policy & demographic decline - Islamisation & Africanisation coupled with both zero interest of the state to apply pressure to integrate or help with it - as well as an eternal victim culture & propensity for violence in migrant communities - Boomers created an unaffordable welfare state which now just runs on debt that no one can realistically repay - Farmers, unions, public servants etc. special interest groups unable to compromise to the point of violence - An intellectual class stuck in the 1970s - Everyone is angry, increasingly radicalised, no one can compromise or constuctively solve issues. - Scapegoat culture: "The EU!" "The billionaire class!" "Ukraine!" "Musk!" "Neoliberalism!" instead of self reflection

Maybe toddlers would do it this fast. Have you seen how fast trained humans do these kinds of things?

I switched these to Ultra because the limits are not going down fast enough and I'm cancelling the subscription tomorrow. Annoyingly enough, I just don't have the capacity to take advantage of a 200€ subscription.
I have 4x Sol 6.1 Medium Fast running at the same time and the limits are going down slower than a single regular Astra does

Had Sol 6.1 Low work on a goal for 4.5 hours during the night and it spent 3% of my weekly limit ($200 Pro) We're so back

I'm going to wait for the dev day before I get salty about this
Hi, Tomorrow we are re-opening the Pro $200 subscriptions to new subscribers, but together with it we are also changing how we calculate the usage for it. In effect, if you do the math, it will net out at half the dollar in API spend compared to the old Pro $200 plan. Now that it's said, let me explain why this is happening and why you will still get more work done than if you were on the Pro $200 subscription one month ago. (a) We didn't want to compromise in other ways and are committing to not reintroducing the 5h limit, so that you can fully use the weekly usage when you want. (b) On the subscription, we guarantee that over time you always get more work done and with an increasing level of quality. This means that you will continue to get more value per dollar spent as a result of models getting more efficient and us passing down the improvements in the form of API price reductions. (c) We don't want to put an incentive on ourselves to artificially inflate the API list prices to make it look like you are getting a lot (and workaround it through discounts, etc). Instead we want to continue to both rapidly reduce prices and increase capabilities of models on the API. This week we introduced GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna at 50% of their previous price. Over time, we see prices go low enough that it makes sense for most to buy usage as needed without there being a significant gap between what you get in a subscription and what you get in the API for a dollar spent. (d) Tomorrow, we are adding more things to the subscription that won't draw on the usage, I won't reveal what that is yet. I wanted to be transparent before all the big announcements tomorrow. Lots of new exciting things are coming to the subscriptions that will make it super compelling, but I wanted to make sure to share this change ahead of time so you can all understand it before we shower you with good news. Codexingly, Tibo

Everyone is complaining about the timing but you know how this works so just work around it I always spend the limits as fast as possible and don't use my banked resets. That way the timing of Tibo's resets doesn't matter to me - I always get the full value out of them
Resets all propagated. That will be all. Have a fantastic weekend.

There's a middle ground between the commercial and consumer dishwasher that's not explored yet Someone get on it

You don’t. They’re a massive pain to clean properly. You have to empty the tank constantly or the grease water gets on everything.

...then make the effort to actually think of something smarter to say. We're doing a completely novel set of tasks, why not figure out the best way to communicate with these things?
i can feel my brain deteriorating

When we say "skill issue", this is the skill. Knowing which skills, examples and APIs you need to achieve the result you want is the skill you lack if you're failing
the post: "Claude one-shot this" the prompt: 10k characters with good takes plus skills, examples and API keys

"People aren't ready, this is gonna change everything" You know what people weren't ready for? Fucking mammoths. Tigers eating them. Monkeys ripping their arms off. The black plague. The ice age. Smallpox. Vikings pulling up on the beach. Drinking water that gives you diarrhea until you die. Getting a scratch and losing your whole leg. The Mongols. The Spanish Inquisition. One volcano can send us back to the dark ages and these safety guys are gonna be shocked. Oh the robots didn't kill us? It was a volcano? Imagine their disappointment as the hot ash rains down on them. A solar flare is gonna explode your phone in your pocket your legs are gonna be covered in battery acid and your bank account will stop working. You're afraid of a computer program doing math? "Things are moving too fast" homie you live on a rock that periodically deletes everything. You are one the most luckiest entities in a 100 light year radius living during a golden era. Cheer up. My ancestors crossed an ocean in a wooden box because they ran out of fucking potatoes. "The social disruption will be enormous!" Nigga World War 2? World War 2? Hop in the people carrier we're landing on the beach. Are these people out of their fucking minds? Do they not know what we've survived already? A couple decades of air conditioning and people suddenly think oh this is the natural condition of mankind. No. We used to have eight kids because seven didn't make it. You're gonna be fine. Man the fuck up. Accelerate.

The way Codex + Astra handles /grill-me my @mattpocockuk is the most annoying thing possible - asking the questions one by one, waiting for each of the replies separately.

Glad to see people realize designers create problems to solve them, just to keep their jobs. Nothing more.
One day some mid-level Amazon PM will suggest changing this beautiful Kindle icon. He will make $300k/year but has no marketable skills because of AI. He must keep his job to keep his 2-bedroom apartment in New York and save up for a place in the Hamptons. So he suggests changing this icon that makes people feel things because it’s uninclusive to women who read books or adults who read books or dogs who eat books. The higher-ups at Amazon also agree because change is good. Change means you are improving things. Change is how you keep your job and 3rd house upstate. Every redesign is done by some guy like this or agency full of guys like this. They redesign beautiful icons and logos solely to support their second homes.

At the current pricing of their models, I should be able to run 70 agents at once for an entire month with that Ultra tier
yo MiMo said 200 a month? that's nothing, how about 400$ a month WOW
