On October 1, 2026, the Government of Gujarat compulsorily retired two mid-level IAS officers, Kankipati Rajesh and Gaurav Dahiya, following a comprehensive service record review by the Central Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
This administrative action was executed under "Operation Gangajal", a state-driven initiative designed to weed out officers facing serious corruption charges, criminal investigations, or disciplinary issues.
Kankipati Rajesh, a 2011-batch officer, had been under suspension since July 2022 due to CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) probes into alleged bribery, weapon license rackets, and illegal land allotments during his time as the Surendranagar Collector.
Meanwhile, Gaurav Dahiya, a 2010-batch officer, was previously suspended in 2019 over allegations of bigamy, misconduct, and cheating, and though he was reinstated in July 2023, his overall service record ultimately led to his forced retirement.
