Edwards Air Force Base depends on a skilled aviation workforce to carry out its critical test and evaluation missions. I was pleased to support Muroc Joint Unified School District’s application for a $10.95 million grant to build a new aviation maintenance training facility at Edwards, and I’m delighted to learn that they’ve been awarded this funding. The facility will expand hands-on technical training for local students and create additional opportunities for military personnel, veterans, and other residents to earn aviation maintenance credentials. This is an important investment in both the future of Edwards and our region’s aerospace workforce. fong.house.gov/media/press-r…

A constituent recently contacted our office after losing access to her Direct Express card, leaving her unable to access her Social Security benefits for several months. She tried repeatedly to update her information, but the issue remained unresolved. My office contacted Direct Express, which verified her identity and mailed her a replacement card shortly thereafter. If you need help with a federal agency, stop by one of our Mobile Office Hours or contact our district office in Hesperia. We’re here to serve you!

Fusion energy has the potential to be a reliable domestic source of clean power and to strengthen America’s energy independence. I am pleased to join Rep. Zoe Lofgren in introducing the bipartisan American Leadership in Fusion Act to support the research facilities and partnerships needed to move fusion technology to commercial reality. The United States has made significant advances in fusion research, and this legislation will help turn that progress into a source of power Americans can use. democrats-science.house.gov/…

With my support, the City of Twentynine Palms has been awarded $8.54 million to improve transportation access to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. The Combat Center’s mission depends on reliable routes for the Marines, civilian personnel, and local residents who travel to and from the installation. I’m pleased to see this investment in infrastructure that serves both the base and the Twentynine Palms community. oldcc.gov/our-programs/defen…

On Gold Star Mothers and Families Day, we honor the families of the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation, and these families carry that sacrifice with them every day. We will never forget their courage, strength, and enduring devotion to those they lost.

Hardworking families deserve to know that their tax dollars are being protected against fraud and abuse. I was pleased to support the National Fraud Enforcement Division Act, which passed the House this week. This bill will strengthen the Department of Justice’s ability to investigate and prosecute fraud involving federally funded programs and help ensure those who defraud taxpayers are held accountable. finstad.house.gov/2026/09/16…

The United States must continue to lead the world in aviation innovation. I’m proud that my bipartisan Aviation Innovation and Global Competitiveness Act advanced out of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. This bill will help modernize the FAA’s certification process, provide greater regulatory certainty for innovators, and support the development of next-generation aviation technologies. It is critical that our regulatory framework keeps pace with innovation while maintaining the highest standards of safety. transportation.house.gov/new…

The United States can address the real risks posed by artificial intelligence while ensuring our regulatory approach does not undermine American innovation and global leadership in AI. I recently joined Bret Baier on Special Report with Rep. Lori Trahan to discuss our bipartisan FRONTIER Act and the need for a thoughtful approach to AI policy.

Our budget process should give Congress a clear picture of how legislation will affect taxpayers over the long term. I’m pleased that my bipartisan Preventive Health Savings Act advanced unanimously out of the House Budget Committee this week. This bill will allow the Congressional Budget Office to consider the long-term savings of preventive health care policies beyond its traditional 10-year budget window. This commonsense reform will help ensure these policies are evaluated based on their full fiscal impact.

As Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee, I enjoyed welcoming CMS Deputy Administrator Kim Brandt for a comprehensive discussion on efforts to combat healthcare fraud and the role AI can play in identifying fraudulent activity. As these emerging technologies continue to improve, it is critical that we explore how they can be used to better safeguard taxpayer dollars and strengthen the integrity of our federal healthcare programs.

It was a pleasure meeting with members of the California VFW to discuss the issues facing Veterans across our state and how Congress can continue improving the care, benefits, and services they receive. Our Veterans answered the call to serve our country, and we have a responsibility to ensure they receive the support they've earned through their service. I remain committed to fighting for policies that support our veterans and strengthen the services they receive.

There are real risks associated with increasingly advanced AI systems, but we must mitigate those risks while still allowing the beneficial uses of AI to thrive. I joined NewsNation Live to discuss how my bipartisan FRONTIER Act would establish appropriate oversight and safeguards for the most advanced AI systems while ensuring the United States continues to lead the world in AI. As this technology develops, Congress needs to focus on clear, identifiable risks and put in place a framework that protects Americans without undermining our ability to innovate.

I appreciated the opportunity to meet with local advocates from the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network to discuss critical cancer research, prevention, and access to clinical trials. Continued investment in research and innovation is vital to improving outcomes for patients and ensuring more Americans have access to lifesaving treatments.

Californians are paying nearly 90 cents more per gallon for gas than drivers in neighboring Oregon, and almost $1.70 per gallon more than the national average. California’s burdensome fuel regulations continue to make an already high cost of living even more expensive. Families across our state deserve commonsense energy policies that bring costs down, not those that drive them even higher.

The House has passed the bipartisan Ratepayer Protection Act, an important step toward ensuring that growing energy demands associated with artificial intelligence data centers does not result in higher electricity costs for American households. As we build the infrastructure needed to secure U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence, hardworking families should not be asked to shoulder the cost. energycommerce.house.gov/pos…

Too many families have experienced the devastating impact of illicit fentanyl, and our emergency rooms are often the front lines in responding to overdoses. That is why I’m delighted that Tyler’s Law, of which I am a proud cosponsor, has just passed the House. This bipartisan bill will improve fentanyl testing and help ensure medical professionals have the information they need to quickly identify fentanyl exposure and provide appropriate care. lieu.house.gov/media-center/…
