A quick update on some good news in our NHS. There is more to do, but we promised to reduce long waits in our NHS and these latest figures show we are delivering. As ever, thank you to our wonderful NHS staff for all your hard work. 💙

Westminster simply can't be trusted to deliver for Scotland. Scotland needs independence.

I have received the first official estimate of the cost to Scotland's pensioners of the Prime Minister's attack on the triple lock. It will take up to £4bn from Scotland's pensioners. And the Prime Minister plans to use it to pay for social care in England.
Community note
The £4bn is a Scottish Govt extrapolation of UK-wide savings for 2049-50 cash terms per their letter, not money taken from pensioners. UK pensions are reserved; English care spending rises would generate Barnett consequentials for Scotland. gov.scot/publications/d… ifs.org.uk/articles/how-w… heraldscotland.com/news/26595468.… wired-gov.net/wg/news.nsf/ar…

This would mean in real terms every pensioner in Scotland being almost £2,000 worse off in 2050. This is unacceptable and the PM must abandon these plans. The Deputy First Minister wrote to the @ScotParl Finance Committee to update them on this analysis: gov.scot/publications/deputy…

In energy-rich Scotland, we pay some of the highest bills in Europe - and they just went up again. If the UK Government won't cut bills as they promised, they should get out of the way for a Scottish Government that will.

If Andy Burnham is so determined that he won’t be the last Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, let’s have a referendum, let the people in Scotland decide, and see who is right.

We need men’s voices consistently calling out violence against women and girls and making it absolutely clear that it’s a shameful way to behave. That’s exactly what I pledge to do. Let's change the culture and eradicate these toxic attitudes for good. I hope you can join me.

Violence against women and girls is an epidemic and I have pledged my personal leadership to tackling it - that means listening and driving urgent action across government and society. This morning I will be taking your calls on BBC Radio Scotland on this issue.

I will never forget being at Hampden when Scotland made history with that 4-2 win against Denmark. No pressure on @ScotlandNT as we take on Switzerland tonight 😉 Here’s a chat I had with Sean McDonald a while back about football memories 👇

In Scotland, we provide free personal care for older people without punishing pensioners. Andy Burnham removing the triple lock would simply repeat the mistakes of Keir Starmer. The blame for the UK’s financial mess lies with successive Westminster governments, not pensioners.

More jobs and investment are coming to Montrose. Subsea Micropiles is investing in a new manufacturing facility, creating over 80 jobs - and SSE is planning to base its offshore wind operations at the Port, creating around 100 more. Great news for Scotland’s industrial future.

Very sorry to hear this news. I have hugely enjoyed Peter May’s evocative books set in the Hebrides. His description of events in some of the most precious places in our landscape was so stunning. I extend my sympathy to his family.

Tackling the climate emergency is at the heart of my plans for Scotland. We can cut emissions while strengthening our economy - by harnessing Scotland’s massive renewable energy potential, creating good jobs and making sure communities benefit from the transition.
