A year ago 🇮🇳 Captain Smit Machchhar spoke how unavailability of doctors in the flight can make the passengers vulnerable to misfortunes like hijacking and cabin crew has to take on the responsibility. He did what he preached. What a hero.

I think the so called "reels" epidemic in India is out of control. I have seen cab drivers, normal workers, office employees scrolling reels non stop even when they are working We definitely have to do something about it

A thread to explain why India and Indians are like this. (1/n)

But the main reason is much more deeper. I feel Indians are one of the unproductive bunch that cannot sustain discomfort for long, and tbh I am not saying this to criticize, but to get to the bottom of the core personality on which Indian society and culture functions. (3/n)

Let me know your thoughts on this or i have over generalized a lot here?

But Indian society needs far more resistance and rebellion to grow, along with not merely a sense of productivity or consumerism, but a natural affinity for and love of work -> a kind of “Karma Yoga.” (12/n)

So this is how I believe India as a country functions right now. But there have to be changes. I dont suggest copying western ideals like East Asians did and wreak havoc on productivity, communities and the family system. (11/n)

If you tell Indians your economy will collapse without an independent LLM model. You can bet India will deliver that shit in 2-3 years. The possibility of doom and discomfort is the main driver that has helped India stay afloat all these years. Check India's nuclear story (10/n)

Indians cannot sustain discomfort long. This is good and also sometimes a bad thing. This simply means that Indians will manage to get out of the problem as fast as they could no matter what, which is why even with so many issues from milleanium. india had never collapsed. (9/n)

but we are also not a suicide cult that just cares about having a peaceful death with no interest in life whatsoever. Even with so many problems we have managed to have stable democracy, booming industries, nuclear bombs, and much much more. Its because of the next trait. (8/n)

The ambition in most of the Indians is not that big, but enough to enable them to not feel discomfort in their social strata. The craze for govt. jobs, total unproductiveness of india's retired population, more affinity towards socialism tells nobody wants to be productive (7/n)

You can visit any road, house, school, office, etc in this country and you see that there is no system, long term strategy or even one single thought of making it pleasant and future proof. Because everybody wants to "GET BY". survive and move on. (6/n)

Indian theology and culture have always said this loud and clear that this world is suffering for us and true peace lies is death surrendering to God or "Moksha". Which i feel how Indians also view life which is something to "get by" or the infamous "chalta hai" mindset. (5/n)

Let me try to explain this line: "Indians are one of the unproductive bunch that cannot sustain discomfort for long", this means that India don't think like westerners where they feel the urge to always remain productive. (4/n)

India is not an industrialized society, not doing that great compared to some other countries on the planet. But i always wonder why? well we can count many reasons for it: Colonialism, Socialist policies after being independent, etc. (2/n)
