The only thing left for Manchester City and Abu Dhabi is to gaslight, threaten and continue with their legal warfare. They are in so deep now with the denials it’s too late to change course. Don’t back down, double down and then lash out at everyone when you known you’ve been backed into a corner. Hence the reported threat to pull investment out of the UK and the exertion of state to state pressure. It’s desperate stuff

Then we shall withdraw our defence and intelligence co-operation. Bluff and bluster. We saw all these same things at play when Saudi Arabia’s PIF wanted to buy Newcastle and Boris Johnson was PM. Absolutely nothing happened to influence PL decision until they stopped piracy of PL games in Saudi Arabia

Following a tumour and a knee injury that ended his playing career at just 21, Matthias Jaissle has overcome adversity to reach England’s top flight “I was only five, but I learnt a lot about life already. How important it is to be healthy and how grateful you are to be healthy and follow your dream. It was not clear I would be able to play football at that age." Iconic piece of broadcast journalism from @RobHarris. The sham club line stings, you can see it land.
"Do you apologise to football fans? The Premier League says 'sham' contracts, is this a 'sham' club?" @RobHarris questions Man City chief executive Ferran Soriano after the club was found guilty of all charges related to Premier League's financial rules trib.al/YimvoPJ

Man City received £949.94m in commercial income from Abu Dhabi sponsors between 2009-2018. Only £119.25m came from sponsors -- the remaining £830.69m were "Tagged Sums" paid by Abu Dhabi United Group (City's owners)

Alan Pardew banned me for writing a completely accurate story about a dressing room clash that was sourced from two players, a member of his staff and a club executive. He then lied about it to the rest of the media pack and said it was nothing to do with him. The club withdrew its threat of legal action and we refused to apologise for publishing an accurate story. He created the toxic atmosphere and almost got relegated in his second full season surviving on the final day. A very thin skinned individual who came up with the immortal line “this win is for Mike (Ashley)” #nufc
🗣️ "Joey Barton told me nobody wanted me there, Newcastle fans didn’t appreciate me, and the local media didn’t help - it led to a toxic atmosphere" 🤷‍♂️ Alan Pardew still feels hard done by over Newcastle spell 🔗 fourfourtwo.com/person/joey-…

Whoever the journalist is here. Whatever their background or how they came to be in that room i applaud you. A masterclass in asking questions while being mocked. The rest of the room stays silent because they are watching someone impaling themselves under the lightest of scrutiny

Watching game at Wembley and it’s clear playing England in Sept when players are fresh and temperature is mild is much harder than playing them at the end of a long and gruelling PL season in heat of a foreign summer. Spain are brilliant but England really impressive too #england
