🧵On Thursday night we held a focus group of 2024 Labour voters many of whom had become disillusioned under Starmer to find out how Burnham's conference speech had gone down. Have written it up for @guardian and it was the most positive feedback for a politician in a long time.

Thought this interesting we tested what our two ‘left’ segments want from the Greens. Progressive Activists, their base are comfortable with the idea of them replacing Labour, but the incrementalist left (soft left) prefer them influencing rather than replacing Labour
Replying to @LukeTryl
The Incrementalist Left want the Greens to influence Labour, not replace them: 36% say Green influence would be good against 25% bad, but more say a takeover would be bad than good. Progressive Activists disagree: half want the Greens to replace Labour outright.

Challenge for Tory conference in one graph. This year has seen the Tory leader significantly improve her public perception - having trailed last year Badenoch is now much more popular than her party. But Tory voting intention is flatlining. Can she drag up that navy blue line?

Next word cloud of conference season is for Kemi Badenoch. As with Burnham, as far as word clouds go it’s at the more positive end. Don’t know is once again in the centre, with good and strong the top positives.

Her word cloud is far more positive than the party’s one where traditional, outdated and divided dominate. Sets up the central question in public opinion terms of this conference, can Badenoch spread her person appeal to her party?

🧵Earlier today at Green conference we looked at where the party stand in the polls, and where the party might go next as Burnham woos back disillusioned progressives

Most Green policies are at first glance popular - except on foreign affairs. A guaranteed minimum income for farmers (net +60), a wealth tax on assets over £10 million (net +52) and ending factory farming (net +50) all win clear majorities. Leaving NATO for an alternative alliance is net -43.

The NATO policy is unpopular even with the Greens' progressive core. Banning US use of British airbases for Middle East strikes plays well with Progressive Activists (net +74). But two-thirds of them oppose leaving NATO for an alliance with countries such as Brazil and Mexico.
