U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Raymond S. Harris assumed duties as #SOUTHCOM’s Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) today. He succeeded outgoing Marine Sgt. Maj. Rafael Rodriguez during a change of responsibility ceremony at the command’s headquarters. The CSEL serves as the principal senior enlisted advisor to the SOUTHCOM Commander on all matters affecting the joint-force enlisted population. In this capacity, the CSEL advises on force readiness, welfare, and morale, while actively communicating and implementing the Commander's strategic intent, guidance, and policies across all ranks. @USArmy @USMC

#SOUTHCOM bids farewell to @USMC SgtMaj Rafael Rodriguez as he prepares to relinquish his position as Command Senior Enlisted Leader to @USArmy SGM Raymond Harris. SgtMaj Rodriguez leaves behind an honorable legacy of disciplined leadership – from Operations DESERT STORM and ENDURING FREEDOM, to multiple drill instructor tours at Marine Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. For 35 years, SgtMaj Rodriguez embodied the Marine Corps’ motto of Semper Fidelis. His impact on warfighters and his leadership at the SOUTHCOM headquarters will leave a lasting impression. Across the Western Hemisphere, he profoundly influenced Partner Nation military leaders, as he worked shoulder-to-shoulder with them to develop their enlisted leadership programs.

Panama is one of the hemisphere's most committed partners in the fight against narco-terrorists and cartels. These advanced drones enhance the capabilities of Panama and the broader Americas Counter Cartel Coalition to monitor remote regions and strategic pathways, intercepting dangerous traffickers at the source. #SOUTHCOM's funding of this delivery exemplifies our commitment to working with enduring regional partners to employ cutting-edge U.S. technology that outmatches those who threaten the Western Hemisphere and the American homeland. @USEmbPAN @MinSegPma Embassy Release: pa.usembassy.gov/u-s-expands…

On Sept. 15, under the direction of #SOUTHCOM, Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere (JTF-WHEM) forces successfully interdicted a floating refueling station supporting illicit at-sea drug trafficking operations in the Eastern Pacific. Intelligence confirmed the vessel's involvement with the Los Choneros violent narco-terrorist organization. Individuals removed from the vessel will be transferred to Ecuadorian authorities. After clearing the vessel and disembarking the crew, U.S. forces sank it. JTF-WHEM continues to conduct precise and professional operations to dismantle the logistical networks fueling narco-trafficking in the Western Hemisphere. "We are exerting unrelenting pressure on these narco-terrorists and hurting them where it counts: dismantling their intricate networks, disrupting their sophisticated logistics, and dealing a blow to their finances. This is what total systemic friction looks like." – SOUTHCOM Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan #A3C #JTFWHEM @DeptofWar @SecWar @USMC @USNavy @USEmbassyEc @DefensaEc @The24MEU
