Greenwich Village, Manhattan
today i'm joining @lightspeedvp as Chief Marketing Officer. after doing thousands of IPOs at Nasdaq and building Redpoint's exceptional platform team, i've learned: it's not just one launch video. it's the relentless drumbeat that get you heard. and that's what i'm here to build for Lightspeed and our founders. let's make some noise!

the “tamagotchification” of AI models is upon us. when claire and i were watching the Dots demo, my attention was on this new mascot trend we’re seeing with grokbot, muse, and now openai. time is a circle. these avatars mirror the same instinct as the corporate mascots i saw popping up in my Chinese-IPO days, now applied to AI. consumers seem to care less about which model tops the latest benchmark, and more so that it knows them, keeps their data safe, and gets things done… and a cuter mascot could tip the scale. imo the emotional attachment to the product > its quality. the 'smartest' AI assistant might just be the most comforting one. the one you want to keep around.
AI could radically change how people access government resources. The US is starting with a chatbot. This week on Lightwork: → America.gov is now live. Designed as a front door to the federal government, the chatbot aims to make information easier to find across 29,000+ government websites. → Leaders across technology and government gathered for lunch at the White House to discuss the state of AI and what “Superintelligence” could mean for the US public. → OpenAI launched over twenty features at DevDay, including a system of “always-on” agents called Dots. Is consumer tech headed toward personal background workers? → SpaceX’s Starship reached orbit on Flight 14 and deployed its first operational payload, twenty-six Starlink V3 satellites. this is why amazon is afraid of muse. its ad business depends on brands paying to influence what you buy. an agent shopping for you could bypass those sponsored placements entirely.
Amazon generated $68.6 billion in advertising revenue in 2025, much of that from placements where shoppers browse and compare. What happens to that business when an agent does the shopping instead of a person? Part of Amazon’s advertising business reaches shoppers as they browse and compare products. If agents handle more of that comparison, shoppers may see fewer sponsored placements. That could change where brands pay to reach them. More on Lightwork: piped.video/mIPbYs6UiA0?si=KsrQ…

More than half of U.S. adults who have never used AI chatbots cite concerns about their personal data as a major reason. For shopping agents, that raises a practical question: what information can an assistant access, and which purchases still need your approval? “We've all given so much data to Meta, I feel like people are concerned about giving more of their data to the company.” @clairejyz on Lightwork.
The newest AI model can’t text back. TypeSafe released Jev, their “system one” model that doesn’t respond with paragraphs, only probabilities. While it can still be wrong, it can’t wander outside the answer schema the way a chat-based LLM can. Will frontier labs take notice and start building their own? More on Lightwork this week: → Amazon bans Meta Muse from their website to guardrail its $68B ads business, while storefront-style platforms like Shopify welcome agent use for traffic. → Skild AI trained its robots on 140 years of simulated self-play soccer, showing that physical self-play could enable robots to far exceed human capability. A cold DM from Daniel Ek and suddenly the thing you swore off becomes your life's work. Best founder stories almost never go according to plan. I'm proud to be an investor in @Neko
In 2018, the absolute last thing I wanted to be working on was healthcare despite coming from a family of doctors. Then I received a DM from Daniel Ek out of the blue to work on a company together, just as Spotify was getting ready to IPO and my previous startup was winding down. This is the backstory of how @eldsjal convinced me to change my mind on healthcare and start Neko together. Thanks for having me in the studio, @clairejyz & @Machiz!

from a cold dm from daniel ek to opening neko’s nyc flagship yesterday. loved having hjalmar on lightwork to tell the story of how a founder who wanted nothing to do with healthcare ended up rethinking it.

hjalmar told us neko started with a dm from daniel ek. naturally, my first question was what his family of doctors thought of it. @HNilsonne joined lightwork to tell us all about @neko’s origin story and the grand opening of their first NYC clinic today.
@Neko Health is now open in NYC. CEO and co-founder @HNilsonne joined Lightwork this week to discuss Neko’s origin, business strategy, and growth model. Hjalmar had avoided healthcare his entire life until he got a cold DM from Spotify co-founder @eldsjal. He was inspired when Daniel asked him, “What if we redid healthcare from scratch?” Then, Hjalmar and the Neko Health team spent 4+ years in research and development. Neko Health’s hardware, software, and AI systems were built in-house to keep pricing accessible. Currently, the scans are priced at $499, but Hjalmar hopes that as technology improves, costs can be lowered to widen accessibility. Their newest location in NYC will be the ninth, and the first in the US, following clinic openings in the UK and Sweden. Congratulations to the entire Neko Health team on this huge milestone. Truly playing the long game….it’s been inspiring to see how deliberately and substantively you and @eldsjal have approached reimagining and building the future of healthcare; questioning everything and staying true to an innovation roadmap that is driven by an ideal end-state for improving everyone’s health, not by delivering superficial ‘quick wins’. What’s most exciting is that the scan is just the starting point!
Heyo! After 8 years of R&D and learnings from 100,000+ scans in Europe, @Neko is finally live in the US! Our clinic in NYC features our new scan room, fitted out with the latest generation of our medical devices (FDA cleared) ✌️ The Neko Lab can now analyze 50+ blood biomarkers with every scan, with results delivered within the same 1 hour visit. 25,000+ people are already on the waitlist and we just started inviting our earliest supporters to book.

corporate entertainment is about bringing people together, but the systems behind it are surprisingly scattered. lohit built @weareande to bring it all into one place and reduce headaches for the teams involved @keepingittlo and i go way back, and i’ve had a front row seat to the way he builds he cares deeply about the human side of hospitality. early on, he went door-to-door meeting with hospitality groups while building ande this week, we talked about how ande is using AI to remove logistical frictions without automating the humanity that makes hospitality work.
While corporate travel has been centralized for decades, corporate entertainment is still comparatively scattered. On Lightwork, Lohit Sarma shared how he approached that problem at @weareande: start with supply. He spent the last two and a half years building the network from that side first, including going door to door with hospitality groups before scaling the enterprise side. Corporate entertainment still runs on relationships. AI can handle things like availability, pricing, and multi-player workflows, but Lohit draws the line at negotiation. As he puts it, “one bad event is one lost relationship that they can’t recover from.” Tune into the full episode below! amazon is betting you’ll abandon your agent before you abandon amazon. i’d take the other side. muse and instinct make buying elsewhere effortless. that leaves shipping speed as its only real moat. customers will wait for a better price. amazon will have to let their agents in.
Amazon cuts off Muse. While I am bullish Meta and Muse, I think many people are overlooking the digital knife fight that’s about to occur Nobody wants to get commoditized or layered here. Let the games begin

a new kind of creator is here. @Suno v6 dropped this week, and it’s trained entirely from scratch on songs licensed from big labels like warner, bmg, and believe. instead of preventing artists from creating, this strikes a good balance between the folks that own the IP and the artists that are creating it. the biggest fight in ai music, over labels vs. the tools, has found a version of peace. a symbiotic relationship. it’s wild to think that one year ago, warner was suing suno, and now they’re partnered up. every new creative tool broadens who gets to make music and what it can sound like. the floor keeps dropping, and the ceiling keeps rising. by now, there’s no putting these tools back in the box. more on lightwork below. Pacing the Frontier: AI capability seems to be compounding faster than the industry's understanding of how to control it. Some tech leaders are advocating for pacing AI. Others are pushing against it. More on Lightwork this week: → @suno launched a new model in partnership with record companies Warner Music Group and BMG. → Licensing has split off into two camps: “open studio” vs. “walled garden,” either allowing or blocking download access for AI-generated audio. The jury’s still out on the winner. → Bending Spoons’ $1.355B acquisition of Miro sparks a conversation about the future of collaborative “pandemic era software”. Full video below. @clairejyz @Machiz
