New York, NY
When Mayor Mamdani fails to deliver all he has promised, we will be here to pick up the pieces. We love New York. We love the free market. And we're here to deliver solutions that work. nytimes.com/2026/07/29/nyreg…

Heating costs are rising in NYC. But the rent is frozen—and many buildings could go bankrupt because of it. The Rent Guidelines Board's vote to freeze the rent forces property owners to absorb the increase in operating costs. Unable to pass these rising operating costs on to tenants or offset them another way, already-distressed buildings risk insolvency.

.@HMDatMI: Police officers "see a reality every day that they're not allowed to talk about and that the rest of the world denies." "Street crime, the drive-by shootings, the robberies, are way disproportionately minority. And that's, again, because of...the incentivizing of grievance, the failure for society at large to stand up for the absolute necessity of fathers... ...[Police officers] are the ones who know how bad things are, but they can't talk about it. And if they ever blow off steam and say some things that are untoward then there's this huge uproar."

Worth listening to. It is pretty clear he hasn't given these issues any thought at all.
.@BrianLehrer asks Mamdani three times if he has a plan to improve DOE schools, and Mamdani refuses to answer: LEHRER: When are we going to see a plan? MAMDANI: [The chancellor has] begun this work with district working groups and engaging directly with school communities...his vision for our school system was one that understood the importance of this work and the importance of delivering it... LEHRER: Two of the policy levers she said you could pull ...are eliminating middle school screens and actually zoning children to schools....Are you for those things as stated that way? If so, do you plan to implement them? MAMDANI: ...To me, we are exploring every single tool that we have at our disposal to ensure that this is going to be a very different school system moving forward than the one that we have inherited. LEHRER: When will we see a plan? Can you answer that? MAMDANI: Yes, that is one of our urgent priorities, and that is something that we are actively working on as an administration and something that the chancellor is leading on through the work he's been doing, but also through the plans that are being formulated...

California is spending $40,000/year per person to give sex offenders free housing, cultural diversity education, and gender-responsive therapy. The state has placed many of the sex offenders in free housing next to playgrounds, daycares, and elementary schools.

In The Bigger Apple, @stephendeide wrote about how the rise of socialism has coincided with declining interest in public K-12: "It’s not just that socialists such as New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani have different views on education than Michael Bloomberg. It’s also that they seem to care less about it." thebiggerapple.manhattan.ins…

Yes. Neetu Arnold’s Aug 6 post on the LSA pilot exceeded 3.2 million views, driving widespread media coverage and criticism. On Sept 28, U-M paused the fall 2027 plan at leadership’s request for more input and analysis. President Grasso specifically cited the extensive coverage and resulting misperceptions about students as a key factor.

🚨NEW: After @neetu_arnold's post got more than 3.2 million views, University of Michigan has walked back their decision to hide freshman grades. This is a huge step in the right direction. Colleges and universities need to focus on academic rigor and stop coddling students.
🚨UPDATE: University of Michigan pauses scheme to hide freshmen grades U-M President Domenico Grasso: “The proposal has become the subject of extensive media coverage… I worry further that our students could bear the consequences of those misperceptions, including being unfairly portrayed as coddled or unprepared”

Mamdani wants New Yorkers to think he got DoorDash to pay a huge $131.5 million settlement to its workers at his command. The average payout for the drivers was $7.70. Meanwhile, City Hall received a payout of roughly $16.1 million—much of which is earmarked for a DSA-aligned labor pressure group with deep ties to Mamdani and his mayoral campaign. @SantiVidalC exposes Mamdani's "triumph" over DoorDash in the @nypost: nypost.com/2026/09/28/opinio…

DoorDash's error seems more like an accounting mix up, which affected less than 1% of total payments to its NYC labor force. The largest part of the settlement, more than $83 million, came from a different—and entirely political—disagreement. The city believes that DoorDash should pay drivers for time when they're not actively delivering orders, maintaining DoorDash omitted this "on-call time" that should have been paid. And while DoorDash had been paying for on-call time, it was doing so under a different formula. Instead of getting buried in a years-long legal fight and shouldering the immense cost of litigation, the company just accepted the city’s formula. nypost.com/2026/09/28/opinio…

.@AndrewKolvet: An illegal parent "with a citizen child...they get money for the child, you get 2 children, you get money for 2. So you're essentially incentivizing illegal immigrants to have more and more anchor babies because they get more money." @kennethschrupp: "It is encouraging a lot of people to come here illegally and to have children and eventually they can be sponsors for eventual green cards or citizenship as well." Kenneth Schrupp discusses his @CityJournal reporting with Andrew Kolvet and @BlakeSNeff on the Charlie Kirk Show:

MI's @DanielDiMartino says socialist students at Columbia told him "they don't think billionaires should exist because nobody needs that much money." "So it's a moral question rather than a facts or economics question. To which I answer: We don't need anything. We don't need the internet, we don't need most of the things we own...who are you to tell me what I need?"
