For anyone who knows the daily calculus of wheelchairs and stairs, this will move you. It's about access. It's not much about a cure.
For more than 20 years, multiple sclerosis slowly changed what everyday freedom looked like for Jake Laser’s dad.
Stairs, rocky paths and hiking trails became almost impossible.
So Jake Laser built something most people would never think to build for a wheelchair user: a four-legged robot his father could actually ride.
It rolls on flat ground, steps over rocks, climbs stairs and handles rough terrain.
The first time Jake’s dad took it onto a trail, he was nervous.
Then it started moving.
And suddenly, places that had been out of reach for years were possible again.
What started as Jake’s engineering project became something much more personal.
Sometimes the best technology isn't about making life faster.
Sometimes it's about giving someone a little more freedom. ❤️
