As a big fan of playing the long game, I can’t advocate enough for making sensible decisions even when extravagance is available. Sometimes in tech money feels limitless, but if your salary doesn’t line up with your value, if you’re always booking expensive flights/hotels/restaurants, if you’re not helping the company understand your spend, then this will all be short lived. Not everyone will agree with this. Some people get away with burning money for a long time. But for most companies prosperity comes in waves and just about everyone’s replaceable. FWIW it’s crazy times, do what you will, I’ve just seen enough to not personally be tempted by it.
