I had a friend in university who lied about everything.
In our hostel, where everyone was always borrowing chargers, extension boxes and provisions, I once asked him for his phone charger.
“Guy, I no get charger,” he said.
I looked beside him. His phone was charging.
“Then what's that?”
He paused and said, “Oh, no reason am.”
The funny thing was, he wasn't even stingy. He could give you food or money if he had it. But somehow, he would lie about the smallest things.
I thought it was just a university phase and that he would outgrow it.
We graduated years ago.
He still lies about everything.
Some habits don't disappear with age. If you don't consciously change them, you simply carry them into adulthood.
And eventually, people stop believing you even when you're telling the truth.
