So Burnham has just set on pensioners and is insisting it's a good deal. Well Andy, here's the reality, pensioners receive around £12,500 pension after contributing for forty nine years via NI, that based on a 37 hour working week would be £6.53 an hour. The minimum wage is £8.00 an hour increasing to £12.71 thats £24,450 a year , certainly NI and tax and pension contributions affect the take home. So my question to Andy is, how come a pensioner is expected to live on an income that is well below the income a young person must receive by law and they have yet to contribute to society. Looks like they do not value the grey vote and the contribution todays pensioners have made to this country, our generation built this country and made it a good place to live and raise a family to be proud of. So before todays young people accuse us pensioners of being a drain on society, ask yourself, could you survive on the state pension which is not a 'benefit' it's a pre-paid entitlement.
