The Polk State District Board of Trustees and I value hearing directly from our students and faculty. Thank you to student Vitor Machado Albrecht and Professor of Computer Systems and Business Analysis Jonathan Berkenfield for sharing about the AgriPolk initiative during Monday’s meeting.
AgriPolk allows students to complete their Polk State Associate in Arts degrees, receive hands-on training, and earn specialized certifications, before transferring to four-year agriculture programs. We are committed to ensuring seamless pathways for our students and a strong talent pipeline for increasing industry demands.
Student Vitor Machado Albrecht and Professor of Computer Systems and Business Analysis Jonathan Berkenfield shared about the AgriPolk Program with the District Board of Trustees on Monday.
As one of the initiative’s inaugural students, Vitor is pursuing his Associate in Arts degree with specialized coursework and hands-on learning at Polk State to prepare for a seamless transfer to a four-year program in agriculture.
Professor Berkenfield, who teaches AgriPolk classes at the Polk State JD Alexander Center in Lake Wales, explained the intentionality of instruction and that, “education represents opportunity, and Polk State embodies that.”
Thank you, Vitor and Professor Berkenfield, for sharing your testimonies.
