The Cybercab has a neat solution for rain clouding up the camera lens 🧐
A rider noticed air being blown across the B-pillar camera. It seems to kick in at stop lights, where there's no airflow to clear the lens 🚦
The rider also noted it's a bit loud, since there are no rear speakers to mask the noise 🔊
This might’ve been the one piece of tech keeping the Cybercab in operation through this week’s rainy weather in Austin ✍️
🇺🇸 For years, Waymo’s approach was the safe bet: cameras, LiDAR, radar, the likes.
Tesla made the opposite bet. Understand the world visually, much closer to the way humans actually drive.
One rainstorm settles that argument.
While Waymo suspended operations in Austin, Tesla is cruising along 😎🌧️

Tesla's new "Emergency Drive Away" feature is only intended for emergency situations because it does cause damage.
Tesla: "Driving with the cable connected will cause damage to your vehicle and the Supercharger. Short camera recordings will be shared with Tesla. Use only in an emergency."
You can see the liquid coolant coming out of the Supercharger cable after the car drive away and it rips off.
Tesla has just introduced a new Supercharging safety feature called “Emergency Drive Away,” which allows you to immediately drive away from a Supercharger for safety reasons while your vehicle is still plugged in.
Now rolling out via an OTA software update (2026.38.3). Pre-2021 Model S and Model X are not supported. No adapters needed. This feature applies to U.S. Superchargers only for now.
