U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina's 6th Congressional District.

Absolutely no surprise that the President who was found liable for sexual abuse by a federal jury says he “feels badly” for the men being investigated by the NY Attorney General in the Cornell rape case. Despicable.
Trump defends the men in the Cornell gang rape case, saying he “feels bad” for them and they won't get a “fair shake”

This is year 11 of Trump claiming he’s going to pass a new health care plan.
Trump: We will pass a truly great health care plan that will stop all payments to big insurance companies and we'll give the money directly to you, the people, so you can buy your own much better health care at a much lower price and have a lot of money left over

Seems Trump is jumpstarting grade inflation just as much as he has jumpstarted price inflation.   Inflation should be 2%. Trump's grade on the economy should be an F.
Trump: I give us an A+ on the government, on economics, on everything.

My thoughts are with everyone affected by this morning’s crash on I-95 over Lake Marion. Our amazing first responders acted swiftly, rescued those trapped, cared for the injured, and kept other motorists safe. I hope all those injured make a full and speedy recovery.

Some new changes to SNAP go into effect today thanks to Trump and Republicans’ “big, beautiful bill.” States are going to have to pick up more of the cost of administering the program, which could force some states to make additional cuts to benefits. This is no way to treat the American people as they already struggle with high costs.

Only Trump would trust what a dictator says about him over the opinions of the American people.
Trump: I've done a very bad job of explaining how good the country is doing. We're doing better than any country in the world economically. President Xi, first thing he said to me, wow, you've done a good job. He said that in Chinese, by the way.

This president is such a thief. The “hundreds of billions of dollars” the government is taking in from tariffs is partially from the higher prices you are paying. And the $5,000 Trump’s promising right as the midterm elections are approaching, he’s been promising for over a year. He takes your money and then lies to you about giving it back. That’s Donald Trump.
Trump: "Because of tariffs, we are taking in hundreds of billions of dollars of profits. It's one of the reasons I can offer, if Republicans win the House and Senate, $5,000 to every adult. We can do it and the Democrats can't, because the Democrats don't have any income."
Community note
A $5,000 payment to every US adult would cost about $1.25 trillion. The government collected $195 billion in customs duties in FY2025. Net tariff revenue turned negative in some months of 2026 due to Supreme Court-ordered refunds. Analyses show tariffs cannot fund it. taxfoundation.org/blog/trump-div… cato.org/news-releases/… usafacts.org/answers/how-mu…

You work hard and pay your taxes. Trump then uses that tax money to pay for illegal campaign ads promoting himself on national television. That’s where we are as a country.
Trump is now using taxpayer money to run his 2024 campaign ad, but changes his campaign logo at the end to “PAID FOR BY THE U.S. GOVERNMENT”

With just 39 days until Election Day, Trump’s dismal approval ratings are sending Republicans running, campaigning in deep red territory and abandoning any hopes of reaching moderate or undecided voters. @RepJamesClyburn joins The Weeknight to discuss.

The Trump administration will claim it developed this system to prevent noncitizens from voting in federal elections—a problem that is virtually nonexistent. In reality, this database will make it more difficult for eligible citizens to vote, especially recently naturalized Americans, by flagging them as ineligible and forcing them to prove their citizenship just weeks before midterm voting begins. We should be making it easier for all eligible Americans to securely vote. The Trump administration seems to be making it harder. npr.org/2026/09/25/nx-s1-597…

Once again, Republicans in the Senate voted to kill a resolution calling for an end to the Iran war. It doesn’t matter how much your costs are skyrocketing. Republicans can’t seem to break with President Trump. Sad.

RFK Jr. needs a bigger security detail and the first place they go looking for money is the Office of Minority Health—the HHS office that works to reduce health disparities faced by racial and ethnic minorities. It’s interesting to see Congressional Republicans—who voted time and again to continue Trump’s war in Iran over the past 7 months—all of a sudden “see the light” when their seats in Congress are at risk.

ICE has brought chaos to the streets of many communities, Americans have less money in their pockets because of Trump’s dumb war and tariffs, and the Trump administration is systematically making it more difficult, not easier, for many Americans to get ahead. This is what you call “results”?
Republicans have focused this Congress on three basic priorities: safer streets, more money in Americans’ pockets, and new opportunities for families to get ahead. We are the only party delivering meaningful results for American families.

In the last two years, the cost of beef is up 20%, coffee up 34%, gasoline is up 45%, and diesel is up 78%. Credit card debt has hit an all time high of $1.4 trillion, with 11% of Americans being at least three months overdue on payments. ycharts.com/indicators/us_… price worktruckonline.com/news/january-2…

Why is ICE purposefully hiding where it is holding people? ICE erased detainees slated for deportation from its online locator and barred ICE officers from telling their families and attorneys where they are being held. Families are left in the dark. Lawyers may be unable to challenge a detention or deportation before it is too late. Whatever their legal status, people deserve dignity and due process. The Trump administration doesn’t seem to care. washingtonpost.com/immigrati…

Leaders of the world’s largest AI companies are calling for slower development because they fear “superintelligence” could cause catastrophic harm. Trump is openly encouraging it while rejecting new safeguards. It is not an exaggeration to say that Trump is gambling our economy, our national security, and the safety of the American people just because he’s worried about the stock market falling under his watch.
Trump on AI: "We will only encourage super intelligence. We're going to encourage it, not rein it in."

It didn’t have to be this way. Trump had no clear reason to launch a war with Iran, but did have very clear reason to believe that gas prices would soar. He did it anyway. Now it could go from bad to worse, and there’s no end in sight. abcnews4.com/news/local/sout…
