NEW GTA VI STORY DETAILS
Rockstar has revealed more about what it's building with Jason, Lucia and modern Vice City:
• Jason and Lucia were intentionally written as opposites. Lucia is actively chasing a better life, while Jason is more likely to let circumstances decide where he ends up.
(It's a subtle feminist inversion: the woman is given the drive and agency, while the man is positioned as the more passive character. Keep an eye on whether that pattern carries through the full story.)
• Both were written to be vulnerable, tough and flawed, sometimes right, sometimes wrong, and capable of learning from each other.
• Lucia is described as "perfectly imperfect" and "undeniably real," with her own motivations rather than simply existing alongside Jason.
• Their crime spree is described as hopeful and naive, pushing things further without thinking about the consequences.
• The American Dream appears to be one of the story's major themes, not only extreme wealth, but ordinary goals like owning a home, supporting a family and getting out of debt.
• Rockstar sees Miami and South Florida as a natural pressure point for that conflict between wealth, ambition and everyday survival.
• Satire is still a major part of GTA VI, with the modern world exaggerated into something more insane, grotesque, and larger than life.
(Previous reporting indicated Rockstar was toning down some of its humor to avoid "punching down" at certain groups, so keep your expectations low.)
