Interesting to note that Speaker Welch says this is the second meeting with Roger Goodell in recent weeks.
The work continues. 🐻⬇️
Yesterday, we brought the right people to the table for another productive conversation about keeping the Chicago Bears where they belong—right here in Illinois.
I appreciate Commissioner Roger Goodell, Pat Ryan, Governor Pritzker, Leader Buckner and Senator Cunningham for continuing to work toward a responsible path forward.
Keep the Bears in Illinois. Protect taxpayers. Keep doing the work. #BearDown #winnersdothework👊🏾

Brenden and Ben have some new details on the Bears meeting with Goodell and Pritzker.
Both these guys are must folos for all things Springfield politics!
.@BenSzalinski and I already had an interview scheduled with Gov. Pritzker this afternoon, so naturally we shifted gears and talked some Bears. The governor told us there were “all the right players at the table” and that action “should happen” during the fall veto session. More:

Ryan Field opens tomorrow night in Evanston. It looks incredible! Named after the Ryan family who helped build it.
Today Pat Ryan, a billionaire and minority owner in the Chicago Bears, met with Roger Goodell, the Governor of Illinois and other high ranking Illinois politicians.
Probably just a coincidence.

We got a closer look at the stadium before it opened:
Northwestern will debut its new Ryan Field on Friday, exactly 100 years after the original stadium opened in 1926. abc7chicago.com/post/northwe…

"Timely action" is curious. When Goodell was here recently he mentioned there was no specific timetable.
Something is up.
From the NFL: "The NFL appreciated the opportunity to meet with Governor Pritzker and legislative leaders today. Timely action is essential as the Bears work to find a long-term stadium solution for the club and their fans."

It appears there's some Bears progress in Illinois. Gov. Pritzker with a statement saying he and top lawmakers met today with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Bears minority owner Pat Ryan.
Ryan could be key to this: a new stadium he financed is opening at Northwestern tomorrow
