I don’t think you understand how journalism actually works. I’m not a “gotcha” journalist, and I have no desire to become one. Gotcha journalists eventually run out of people willing to sit across from them. You don’t build a successful show by ambushing every guest who agrees to come on, you build it by asking questions that elicit genuine responses, listening to what they say, and then examining those answers against the facts. That’s journalism. I’m a real journalist. That’s the reason I’m starting a national radio show on iHeart radio. I understand that an audience has to be both informed AND entertained. If you can’t do both, eventually all you’re doing is bitching on X to the same people every day. I don’t know about you, but I have absolutely no interest in doing that for the rest of my life. Am I a truth seeker? Absolutely. But seeking the truth doesn’t mean cramming every possible question, accusation, or controversy into every interview. I had TWO important guests on that night, not one, and by every account I’ve received, with the obvious exception of yours, the show was a massive success. And here’s the part I find particularly interesting: if there was something you personally believed absolutely needed to be discussed, you had every opportunity to contact me beforehand. You could have even sent it during the show when I was openly taking questions from the audience. You did neither. You were nowhere to be found. So criticizing a question I didn’t ask is one thing. We can disagree about that all day long. But don’t you dare use it to cast aspersions on my journalistic integrity. You don’t get to sit silently on the sidelines when you had every opportunity to contribute, then show up afterward and question my integrity because I didn’t conduct the interview exactly the way you would have. That criticism I won’t accept.
