The Cognisphere - By STPC. This is a cool art project I did over these 2 weeks. More recently as I've injured my ankle and have been stuck at home. :( I've put a lot of meaning into it you might miss at first glance. After reading this maybe your experience of watching this will be more enjoyable ! I wanted to create a live version of the Cognisphere in TouchDesigner. Everything in the canvas has been thought out and everywhere you look, something happens. The sun represents the idea of SPX6900. Over time the sun grows, just like SPX. The sun's colours slightly change. This represents the idea of SPX slightly changing over time, but never deviating from the mission. When the sky gets dark, the sun shines even brighter. The days we spend struggling are always worth it. Each node represents a believer. Nodes are made of little dots gathering together, each one of them fundamentally different from the others. Thoughts move constantly and are different from everyone else's. Sometimes a node breaks out of shape. We are not constrained by an identity, and are never scared to reshape ourselves. Some nodes go away from SPX, some come closer to it. Sometimes you take a step back from the core, sometimes you are the closest to it. And everyone has their cycles. Sometimes the sun has an idea. It pulls everyone closer, or pushes everyone away. Each node takes its own path, but they always come back. Some nodes merge and form little groups. Some always stay alone. These nodes change groups. When two nodes stay together long enough, they start to look alike. When they part, they keep a little piece of each other. Some nodes are elders. They were here from the start and never left. They grow bigger and brighter over time, and new nodes gather around them. Some nodes leave. They sell and move on. But they leave something behind. Their dots turn into a small cloud that stays in the sky: their memes, their art, their work. New nodes passing through these clouds take a little of their colour. We all carry the ones who came before us. Over time these clouds drift together and merge. New nodes are born from the sun all the time. The Cognisphere keeps growing, it never shrinks. The background is the journey of every believer. Dawn, rain, heaven, twilight. Sometimes dark times, sometimes beautiful times. The nodes feel it: in the rain they have a tendency to drift apart more, in the golden light they come together. Everything has been thought of here, and I've just filmed a minute of the project going on itself. It lasts for a whole song. The music is Fresh Static Snow by @porterrobinson I operated manually a 3D Camera here. I will 100% take the time later to rework on this. Maybe for a future exposition ? ;) Stop trading. This gives each node its own identity. Representing each one of us in the cog. Light effects on beat added to each node. 3D camera implemented, which I control in real time to create visual depth. Made the background void even more dense and nebula-ish Very cool project so far. :)
