September was one of the busiest months of the year for AI model releases: a dozen major models in 30 days, with open-weight models gaining ground on the frontier. Here's the recap 🧵/4
Open-weight momentum: @Xiaomi's MiMo-V2.6-Pro posted one of the highest open-weight scores yet on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index. @deepseek_ai dropped V4.1 Flash for faster, cheaper inference. @Alibaba_Qwen-Image-2.1 edged out Nano Banana 2 on Qwen's own benchmark. 🧵3/4
The takeaway: frontier labs keep pushing capability, while open-weight models make advanced AI more accessible and deployable. What will October bring?

When we can understand someone's values and psychological personality through your public and private data or digital footprint, it gives technology the power to influence choices positively or negatively without awareness.
“When we see the living resources of our planet, not as commodities but as gifts, there is a beauty and relationship building effect that nature gives us as a gift.” @tiffanyjvora
What you often see on your explore, discover, newsfeed, etc. is what content that can evoke an emotional response. These platforms are judging your behavior through macro (liking, commenting, sharing or saving) and micro interactions (hover, number of replays, app quits, etc.).
For 10 years, the most common thing we heard from Executive Program alumni was some version of the same sentence: “That was extraordinary, and I do not know what to do with it on Monday.”
So 5 years ago, we rebuilt the program. su.org/executive-program
Biology influences technology. Evolution, the original innovator, provided blueprints for many of today’s prominent technologies. The artificial neural networks now attracting hundreds of billions of dollars, for example, are based on the way neurons are organized in the brain.
The distinction between synthetic and natural in
biology is largely a construct, as synthetically created biological systems are unequivocally real and alive.

Medical ethics was built around professional+patient+decision. AI operates across supply chains, social platforms, hiring algorithms, and govt infrastructure. If the people harmed by AI systems often have no relationship w/ the orgs building them, what does accountability look like in practice?
If GLP-1 drugs turn out to slow aging broadly rather than treating individual diseases, does that change how you think about who should have access to them and whether they should be covered as preventive medicine?
Parents carry years of real expertise into work every day and none of it reaches their kid's classroom. Curriculum can't keep pace with how fast the world moves. Connecting classrooms to problems people today are solving helps fix that. Let's reimagine the future of education.
