IM MAKING AN ANIMATED SHORT FILM! And it’s gonna have rocket launches and realistic orbital mechanics and moon landings and anthro animals and it’s called Loihi! And even though I’m setting aside many hours every day to animating it, I still would like some help! If you wanna voice act, or help me with the gargantuan amount of artwork that needs to be made to get this thing complete like concept art, storyboards, backgrounds (2D or 3D for all of these) I’d appreciate it immensely! I can’t offer much besides a name in the credits and we won’t complete the finished product at least until next year, but it’ll be a hell of a cool feeling once it’s done!

Honestly, this made me want to draw every single variant of the Falcon family, and this list isn’t even counting the short upper-stage nozzle variants (since they’re not visible) or the two separate mission extension variants (since they look identical). This is also looking only at the ones that have flown, meaning ten total Falcon variants have flown.
Always found it neat how Falcon has a parallel to ULA’s system of having many slightly differing in capability variants to most efficiently use the minimum resources needed to launch a payload. But instead of strap on solids, it’s the amount of reuse. Between F9 RTLS, Droneship, expended, FH full reuse, core expended, full expended and not to mention the smaller increments between those with the short nozzle upper stage, there’s a lot of rungs along the Falcon cost to capability slider

I once saw horrific footage of one of these dropping a plasma grenade into a crowded ice tunnel on Europa

Next Falcon Heavy launch will attempt to land the center core btw. The center core was never successfully recovered (second one was close but it tipped over)

I always found it funny how only the first three launches actually attempted to recover the core, while only one of them actually landed before being lost at sea. We haven’t seen an attempt since 2019, meaning this would be the first in over seven years! While the expendable variant has launched less often, it did launch more recently. The last launch we saw where all boosters were expended was back in 2024 for Europa Clipper.

What causes this type of person? Every now and then I see qrts of someone searing with rage against space colonization with a passion like it would be personally detrimental to them if people think it’ll happen one day. Like I mean come on, “shuttletards” 😭

Just realized that since “SpaceX” is short for the “Space Exploration Technologies Corporation” it’s grammatically correct to say “the SpaceX” when referring to them

Melissa C in the port of Honolulu, was super rainy from the hurricane so I wasn’t able to fly the drone, so we were pretty far from it, can’t really tell if they picked up any debris

Big ass cloud in the way. Home now. Super tired. Sleep schedule ruined, but epic flight

Looking for some opinions, I'm on Oahu with a telescope, do I stand a chance of seeing Starship as it passes over me? Looking like it's gonna happen near sunrise which is giving me some hope
