Interesting development in the NHL to Austin bid - last week along with significant hiring in Austin of mid management sports execs - Pursuit Sports, the Friedkin family’s sports ownership platform, has just leased approximately 7,000 square feet of office space on South Congress in Austin. A September 24 filing shows roughly $200,000 of renovations, including five new offices, with completion expected around November.

Great point. Maybe they haven’t won a WS but the long term deals for very good bats which you have to have if you want to sniff a WS.
Replying to @SanAntonioTim
Harper makes like 25 mil/ year. Schwarber 20 per on his last deal and 30 now. They are still both top 30 or so bats in bball. Abreu and Walker each made about 20 mil/year. We signed up for the declining years without getting any of the prime years. 5 mil/year more 4 those dudes

All started with a Monday.
Cool story about Davis Lamb, who enters the weekend at the Korn Ferry Tour’s Compliance Solutions Championship in solo second and is currently projected to rise from 24th to 12th in points, which would clinch his PGA Tour card by the way: Four years ago, Lamb, who played college golf at Notre Dame, had no status coming out of college and decided to caddie for David Kocher to begin the 2022 KFT season. A few months later, he open-qualified into the Club Car Championship in Savannah, Georgia and tied for 40th. He played that year and the next on PGA Tour Canada, earned his KFT card for 2024, lost it, regained it via Americas in 2025, and now is on the cusp of finally graduating from the KFT, thanks in large part to his first KFT win, which came back in March at… The Club Car Championship in Savannah.

Awesome week at @EpsonTour Can’t thank the Indian Wells Resort and Tommy Bahamas hotel for having us out. Truly so thankful for weeks like this. And the things the tour are doing is really encouraging. Next year every player at this event will get their hotels paid for. 100K to winner this week, the first time ever a six figure check will be given out on this tour. @markbaldwin1 will be here the rest of the weekend. Cards and drama ahead.

Non golf tweet. But one of my most important tweets I’ve put out. A follower who has become a good friend has a son who has gone thru a shit storm over the last month. And he needs our help. Kettler is a Navy Officer and in mid August he had an allergic reaction to something. At first the doctors thought it was something minor and sent him home with Antibiotics. Just a few days later he woke up in severe pain, and was sent to the ER, they realized he was in great danger and sent immediately in an ambulance to the burn unit at Loyola. His skin was literally burning off his body from the allergenic reaction. He was admitted to ICU and diagnosed with Steven Johnson Syndrome. His case was so severe that it was nearly fatal. All of which came from the Antibiotics prescribed in the first visit. Kettles dad Skip has left his job to come care for him and the family is renting an Airbnb. Kettler is out of the hospital but can barely open his eyes and his recovery will be a long term process. Skip is staying in Chicago area to transfer him back and forth to rehab and help with every day activities. Kettler is not allowed back on base per doctors orders. On top of that there is a dispute about who is responsible for the medical bills and as of right now the family might be on the hook for them. Kettler is devastated that his Navy career could possible be over. He wanted so badly to follow in his grandfathers footsteps who was in the navy for 32 years. Help if you can.

This. (Also they are the loud minority, fact is hundreds of people have donated to her, and she is overwhelmed with the support.)

The number of people that seem personally offended by someone who’s life will never affect theirs is both wild and yet unsurprising.

Today in Oklahoma Jesse Rouse got thru pre-q for Q-school. Shot -5 total and moves on to 1st stage. If you don’t know his story please take time to read it. I’m not sure anyone in pro golf has overcome such long odds. mondayq.com/story/a-promise-…

An amazing person, who I don’t know and doesn’t know Madison is willing to match any donations over the next 24 hours up to $3000. The people of golf are truly amazing. Madison will be going to Q-school. Her Venmo is in tweet below. Let’s raise some money for her.
Defining “All-in”. This is Madison Young. She had full LPGA status 2 years ago, conditional this season. Bounced back and forth between LPGA and @EpsonTour She is broke. More than broke. She and her husband Tyler are over 100K in debt. She still knows she can play. But right now can’t afford Q-school. Sign-ups are early next week. Tyler caddies for her but also works full-time on the road. He’s up early to work and works after each round. I asked if she had a job she could do if she stopped playing “I’m a college dropout who has never had a job.” They have looked into filing bankruptcy. “The only way out at this point is play better” she told me thru tears at the pro-am party this week. The last part of this season she has borrowed from family to just get to the next event. Hoping to play well enough to pay them back. But it’s nearly impossible to play under that pressure. This week’s winner gets $100,000. One good week and the debt would be almost wiped away. Madison is -4 and T6.
