American, veteran, photographer (passionate hobby), traveler, gardener, grew up with nothing, grateful, skeptical, easily distracted & healthy sense of humor 😊

Note: I'll be posting a wide variety of photos I've made over the years. From my travels, my garden, etc. If it seems there's no real theme to my photos, it's because I shoot a wide variety of subject matter. I'm not one of those "I only shoot 'street' photos" or only nature photos, or whatever. I don't like to be stuck on one genre all the time. If I find something beautiful or interesting for some reason, I'll make a photo of it 🙂

As I travel around our beautiful country, in EVERY city I notice where the far-left (Democrats) have placed garbage/graffiti. They will write on, paint on or place stickers on pretty much anything. Examples from just the last 2 years of my vacations/trips: Santa Fe, NM (zoom in just to the right of the crosswalk character), Santa Fe, NM again, Salt Lake City in front of a hotel and Denver near the main public library. Why did I say "far-left (Democrats)"? Because the media refers to any conservative or someone that wants America to take care of American citizens first as "far-right", so it's only fair that I return the favor 😀

Cropping in on the Santa Fe photo of the utility pole to see what's in the background (context for the graffiti message on the pole). And one last photo - from a Spring trip to Utah, even in remote areas of Utah, you'll find small-minded people that feel the need to vandalize public infrastructure. In this case, a bridge over the Escalante River near Escalante, UT (there are trails there, so it must have been one of the maggot-infested granola munchers that scribbled this Aunt-Teefa message on the bridge support.

My Clematis 'Jackmanii' was dying so I replaced it this summer with a Clematis montana 'Rubens' which I read gets 20 to 40’ long and blooms on the previous year’s growth, so it doesn’t need to be cut back except for maintenance. It supposedly blooms profusely and likes the conditions I have for it. It has already grown about 14 feet! I’m training it up two walls. The one you see and the one around the corner. I’m really looking forward to seeing it bloom. It’s supposed to be fragrant also. We’ll see.

Late November, 2020 at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. Ended up eating at a Mexican restaurant on Thanksgiving since anything else close enough where I was staying was closed 🫤 (small town off the Blue Ridge Parkway). 4 photos. Nikon Z5 with Nikon Z 24-200mm lens

Several years ago I made Totoro from a fallen acorn on my property. It's easy. Just move the little crown that was attached to the tree and glue it to the other side of the acorn. Then use some Wite-Out (remember typewriters?) and paint as you see in my example, then use a black Sharpie to finish. Fuji X-Pro1 with XF 35mm f/1.4 lens. Who is Totoro? >>> 'My Neighbor Totoro' is a 1988 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki.

This past Wednesday in my field (just out back). Autumn sun sinking in the western sky and some backlit fescue grass. I love these times. It's peaceful. Panasonic Lumix G9 II with Olympus 75mm f/1.8 lens (150mm equiv on full frame)

US-380 near Valley of Fires Recreation Area. The area ahead in that valley is basically a big lava field. It’s pretty cool. There’s a campground up there in the distance that overlooks the lava field and a nice trail that goes through it. Carrizozo, New Mexico Nikon Z8

I went to water a small tree I planted this summer, but nothing was coming out of my water can, thinking it was leaves I looked in the can, but didn’t see anything, so I looked into the spout and found a frog. 😊 it has been pretty dry so I guess he got in my water can trying to find some moisture, but got stuck. After getting him out and putting him back in the flowerbed, I completely filled the can with water so he could be at the very top/floating and still be able to get out of the can if he decided to go in again. The next day I found him at the very bottom of the can, can still full of water. So now I put the can on its side and just put a little water in it so he can come and go as he pleases. I’m not sure why he’s up in my flower bed because he could be down in the ditch/creek which would be better for him regarding finding moisture. But if he insists on staying, I’ll try to accommodate the little fella (or fellette, if it’s a girl) 😊.

My feet, in Virginia.🙂Several places I put my feet in 2024 while on a state-wide tour of Virginia to see various (mostly) Civil War historic sites. Not a group tour (I just drove around to all the sites). The sites in these 4 photos are: 1. Edgar Allan Poe Museum - Richmond, VA 2. Home of Mary Washington (George Washington's mother) - Fredericksburg, VA 3. General Lee's Hill, Battle of Fredericksburg, VA 4. Virginia Military Institute, the grave of Little Sorrel, the war horse of General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson in Lexington, VA Camera: Nikon Z8
