Paul Rudd no longer brings his smartphone with him to set: “I don’t go to sets with a phone. I haven’t done that for a while now. It’s important to put it down. Anytime. They’re horrible things. I’m addicted to it like everybody else. They’re facilitating our own destruction.” Rudd revealed that director Tom McCarthy enforced a “very strict no phones policy” on the set of their new movie “A Statement,” which he found brought his castmates closer together and made filming feel more like a play. “The world has changed since cell phones have existed. We don’t look at each other or talk to each other quite the same way,” Rudd said. “Now, [with the phone ban], we were forced to really spend time with each other and talk. Working on a movie set in 1980, we’re dressed in a certain kind of way. It felt like, ‘Oh, yeah. I remember this. This feels like it used to feel when people sat around and spoke to one another.’” wp.me/pc8uak-1lHTLm

Jeremy Strong recently defended his commitment to method acting, saying he doesn’t feel the “need to apologize” to on-set colleagues who may think he's taking the process “too seriously": "If some people feel that I’m taking it too seriously, or it changes the molecules in the room in a way that makes something uncomfortable, I guess that’s something that I don’t feel that I need to apologize for, because I believe, and I think the directors that I work with all believe, that it’s in service of the material, and I personally think that a lot of the reactions to it are of a personal nature.” variety.com/2026/film/news/j…

Guillermo Del Toro calls "Digger" "daring" and "bold" despite poor reviews: "The film delivers in scale, ambition and reach at a theatrical screen level. Daring, bold and cinematically complex. Decidedly a theatrical experience.” variety.com/2026/film/news/g…

“Andor” creator Tony Gilroy says it’s “tragic” that the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger is threatening to “destroy the architecture” of Hollywood “in the name of venture capital”: “People say the movie business is in trouble You go around, you stand anywhere you want, what do people talk about? Did you see this? Did you see that? What episode are you on? The business is solid, and to destroy the architecture that made it so in the name of venture capital, it’s tragic.” Serving as the centerpiece film at #NYFF, “Behemoth!” stars Pedro Pascal as a gifted cellist. While introducing his new film, Gilroy praised the festival’s lineup as a bright spot amid an increasingly turbulent Hollywood landscape. “When so many things go to sh*t in Hollywood, this is like a thank you,” Gilroy told the crowd. “Thank you for letting us bring our soufflé to your groovy party.” wp.me/pc8uak-1lHTHS
