The scale-up of the Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is making a difference. New supplies, strengthened logistics and expanded support for frontline teams are helping to reinforce treatment, surveillance, laboratory services and infection prevention efforts in affected communities. However, transmission persists and new hotspots continue to emerge, underscoring the need to sustain and further scale up the response. To stay ahead of the outbreak, we must continue investing in the capacities needed on the ground: more health workers, stronger surveillance, expanded access to care, safe and dignified burials, and deeper community engagement. The progress achieved so far remains fragile and cannot be taken for granted. I thank all partners supporting the response, including those helping to mobilize and deliver critical supplies and equipment to affected communities. Their solidarity and commitment are helping strengthen operations where they are needed most. WHO is supporting the Government of the DRC and partners by providing technical expertise, operational leadership and support and delivering essential supplies. Sustained investment, solidarity and collective action will be critical to protect communities, save lives and bring this outbreak to an end. afro.who.int/countries/democ…

.@WHO, together with @UNICEF and with logistical support from @WFP, has delivered essential medicines and personal protective equipment to the Mandima Health Zone to strengthen the #Ebola response. The supplies will strengthen patient care and infection prevention and control (IPC) measures in health facilities. A rapid response team has been deployed to Mambasa and Mandima, where confirmed cases have increased in recent days. Community leaders and communities are being engaged on the importance of following public health measures. Training is under way on IPC, case management and community engagement to help interrupt transmission and save lives.

In his opening remarks at #AHTSat5, @WHOAFRO Regional Director Prof. Mohamed Yakub Janabi urged stakeholders to ensure Africa’s digital health transformation is designed with Africans, governed by Africans and built for African realities. #AHTS2026
“Let us not simply digitise healthcare. Let us transform health, and ensure that Africa is not merely a user of health innovation, but a global leader in creating it.” Addressing the #AHTSat5 Opening Ceremony, Prof. Mohamed Yakub Janabi, @WHO Regional Director for Africa, called for Africa’s digital health transformation to be designed with Africans, governed by Africans and built for African realities. He challenged governments to create the right conditions, innovators to solve real health problems, investors to take proven solutions beyond the pilot stage, and partners to align behind national priorities. The measure of progress is clear: technology must help health workers act with confidence, direct resources where they are needed most and deliver trusted care closer to people. #AHTS2026 #AHTSat5 #WellnessForAll #DigitalHealth #HealthTechAfrica
