If we teach our daughters that consent alone will make their sexual encounters morally acceptable and profitable, then we’ve sold them very short.
Sex is an inherently vulnerable thing for women.
It’s not uncommon for women who consented to unloving sexual acts to claim rape after the fact because they really do feel violated and in many cases were.
The only truly safe place for a woman to have sex is in a loving marriage.
Anything else leaves her open to emotional, physical, and biological exploitation.
If we can be sure of anything from the Cornell case, it's that consent is a wildly insufficient determinant of sexual morality, and sexual immorality hurts people.
