yo @SouthPark episode request: Cartman as an agentic Catch Me If You Can scammer abusing AI to create fake personas with real voices and bodies that he gets hired at various companies and websites. He uses Fable to orchestrate it all, playing out 100's of jobs, fake AI girls, etc. All while he eats cheesy poofs.

I want this for game dev and design 😍
For years, maybe a decade, I've wanted to build a writing tool that just did a few things I couldn't find anywhere else. A system that mimicked how I think when I write. A system that provided clear affordances, features, and places to do the things I wanted to do. A way to play with my writing as I'm writing it. A way to settle into just the right way to say something. It never made sense to make it a 37signals product because it's not commercially viable, nor would it be worth pulling people off their other work to hack on this. Plus, it would have taken months the old way. So this weekend I just made it myself, with Claude's help. It's called Write_On and the short video walks you through it. Essentially it's "alternative control" at the word, sentence, and paragraph level, plus a way to dim stuff back, and stash stuff near by. Not version control, but alternative control. You'll see what I mean when you watch the video below. So here it is. Write_On.

Fun to be a part of this as one of the front-end implementers
The next generation of commerce deserves a next-generation interface. The Shopify admin has a new look, with easier navigation across key workflows and Sidekick front and center when you need a hand.

Replying to @jamesm
If you ask your mom "is the sky blue" she says "yes" immediately, that's jev. If you ask your dad "why is the sky blue" he talks for ten minutes, that's an LLM.

Taught my 8 and 10 year old kids the 12 Disney animation principles today watching their eyes light up at how cartoons and drawings come to life made happy, and made me super sad. If I hadn’t shown them, they’d never learn this shit at school until maybe after high school. But made me proud cuz my little punk asses know it way before college.

update: now you can use css progress() for adaptive radius, shadow, etc. ↓ same trick, but progress() does the division + clamps for you! 🧑‍🍳 .card__surface { --r: 42px; --g: 24px; border-radius: calc( progress((100vi - 100cqi) / 2, 0px, var(--g)) * var(--r) ); }
a little css trick i like ↓ adapt the radius gradually based on available space shrink from --r to 0 within --g 🧑‍🍳 .card__surface { --r: 42px; --g: 24px; border-radius: clamp( 0px, (100vi - 100cqi) / 2 * var(--r) / var(--g), var(--r) ); }

Shopify moving to StyleX is a wash in almost every metric. Wash = not enough gained in one vertical to offset the loss in another While it is more deterministic, our agents arent struggling with our CSS Modules. Over 10% of our CSS can't exist in StyleX too, and we'd lose our design system strategy that helps keep specific aspects private and others public. We also have a lot of adaptive CSS props and props that use dry switching to enable robust and terse adaptive props that StyleX can't express. We also have a design system in web components that could technically adopt it, but practically it's not a good match. Was a fun investigation! Same with investigating moving entirely to an OOCSS strategy last year, was fun but we've got enough modern CSS, tight strategies and gzip is amazing; the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
