I wrote about some of my concerns with ChatGPT's new Epic integration. While I'm proud of the field and excited for the future, when it comes to Healthcare Information Technologies - Caution is the name of the game. colelyons.com/writing/from-e…

I deeply respect anyone who can update their views in the face of new evidence. The last four years have really taught me how rare it is for someone to be able to publicly change their mind.

Many local (non chain) spots from what I understand barely support full time workers, let alone benefits - and if there are profits (which there frequently aren't) they go to the business owner However Starbucks can only support these things because they're a mega cap, so...

I've always found the Starbucks vs Local Coffee Shop thing mildly interesting because Starbucks fairly famously offers extremely generous benefits How many local coffee shops offer health care, equity, PTO, and tuition assistance to part time employees?
“A resolution passed on Thursday makes Philadelphia the first U.S. city to officially back the Starbucks Workers United boycott.” We don’t need Starbucks with so many good and local shops in the city and I’ll always stand by that

It's time to optimize my McDonald's spend by having my agent check prices at every McDonald's in my area and route me to the optimal one.
SITUATION DETECTED: McDonald’s is using an AI “pricing engine” to analyze millions of daily transactions across 14,000 U.S. restaurants, estimate each area’s willingness to pay, and then generate what it calls “the optimal price” for every menu item at each store, per Reuters.

It's amazing when you compare real what real Philadelphian's care about to those who sit around making fun of someone for having a starbucks cup in rittenhouse square.

Most of city council wouldn’t last a day working at a Starbucks in the city.

Yes I think there's a lot better places than Starbucks, I do like and prefer local business, but the idea that city government should be spending time on this, or even doing it at all, is concerning and it seems that the people celebrating it are not the typical working citizen of philadelphia or even our neediest citizens but instead people who have time to be concerned by such things to which I ask - do you feel this is a good use of your mental time?

So now our city council is telling people to boycott a restaurant? Why not take it a step further and ban people from owning restaurants based on their appearance or political beliefs? That seems like a good use of public officials’ time and taxpayer dollars

@PHLCouncil SILENT on this, and ALL of the other daily shootings. But they're "passing resolutions" and calling for a Starbucks boycott. JFC what joke.

Maybe City Council will call for the Fire Fighters to get equal pay with police. The tradition of parity has been broken by the recent arbitration awards.

The cheap coffee shop argument defies logic. Starbucks almost universally offers a better benefits package - at the expense of hourly pay - compared with Specialty Coffee shops; but these specialty shops aren't cheaper. I'm not sure what is in ya'lls coffee, but many of the shops surrounding rittenhouse are equally expensive - and quite a few of them are owned at least partially by major corporations. Let's talk for a minute about the idea that cheap coffee shops - in the vast majority of cases their benefits suck.

Starbucks employs 900 of my fellow Philadelphian's. The city government continues to persecute working class citizens.

I say this because my entire family basically died in wars before the industrial revolution when they started doing pulp processing at a paper mill in Maine. My grandfather is the first one to go to college - University of Maine, then started at Bell Labs.
